Ephesians 6:10-14
Belt of Truth
Live fitting of the Salvation we were given | Rather Than | Living like we have to save ourselves |
Walk in Humility | | Walk in Pride |
Walk in the new self | | Walk in the old self |
Walk in Love(What I can give) | | Walk in Lust(What I can get) |
In ways of the light | | In the ways of darkness |
In Wisdom | | In foolishness |
In the completeness of The Spirit | | In the distraction of drunkeness |
In Mutual Submission | | In self-serving independence |
For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world.
1 John 2:16
Ephesians 6
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.
Ephesians 6
11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand
(stay/continue/abode) against the schemes (cunning arts, deceit, craft, trickery) of the devil.
Schemes of the Devil
the devil’s ongoing efforts to undermine the faith of believers, obstruct God’s purposes, and sow chaos and destruction among humanity.
Th Devil’s ongoing efforts to undermine the faith of believers, interfere with God’s purposes, and to sow chaos and destruction among humanity.
-Deception and Lies. -Temptation and Sin. -Accusation and Condemnation. -Division and Discord
-Opposition to Truth
To separate us from God and rob us of salvation, joy, and peace
Ephesians 6
12 For we do not wrestle against (πάλη, παλης, ἡ (from πάλλω to vibrate, shake), wrestling (a contest between two in which each endeavors to throw the other, and which is decided when the victor is able to prostrate his opponent, i. e. hold him down with his hand upon his neck)
Ephesians 6
12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.
Ephesians 6
13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand (stand against, oppose, resist) in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm ((to make) to persist, continue, persevere).
Ephesians 6
14 Stand (Stand Firm) therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth,
and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace.
Ephesians 6
14 Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth,
NASB 14 Stand firm therefore,
having girded your loins with truth,
gird your loins
gird your loins
"gird your loins", which means to prepare for something difficult or stressful
Why is being prepared so important?

Girded with truth
Referring to our Attitude of truthfulness
How the truth shapes and directs our attitudes, and therefore our actions.
John 16:13
12 “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.
John 17
14 I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 15 I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one. 16 They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 17 Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.
John 8:44
You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
Scriptures make these two claims
1. What God says in true:
Scriptures share His truth with us. We must also ask the Holy Spirit (spirit of Truth) to lead us into all truth and help us in an attitude of truthfulness. Prayer.
Scriptures make these two claims
2. What Satan says is a lie:
Satan’s schemes play out as accusation and temptation towards our flesh and our desires. They are carried out and his lies are spread by all “man” made (covertly Satan led) self-serving world systems.
Gird our Loins (Prepare for something difficult) with Truth
Deal with the loose ends of our tunic that make us vulnerable when engaged in close combat, these loose ends are
where we will be attacked.
Gird our Loins (Prepare for something difficult) with Truth
The truth exposes the loose ends of our lives which give the Devil an opportunity.
The truth shapes our attitudes to deal with those loose ends and to deal with others.
The Spirit truth reveals the loose ends and empowers and directs us to deal with them.
Gird our Loins (Prepare for something difficult) with Truth
We don’t gird once and then leave it be.
We gird in between and in the middle of each battle.
We gird with the truth of God’s word and God given relationship with others where truth is shared, selfishness is revealed and truth is walked out.
Jesus Cancelled Sin’s claim and hold on us. The Spirit helps us kill and conquer its presence and temptation in our life.
Colossians 3:5
“Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.”
Jesus Cancelled Sin’s claim and hold on us. The Spirit helps us kill and conquer its presence in our life.
Romans 8:13
“For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live.”
