5 Quck Tips for Seesaw and Chromebooks https://youtu.be/WyFRdEsB2pY

Right now our goal is to get Seesaw working on both iPads and chromebooks-- we are having issues with assignments and classes disappearing and/or not being viewable on the parent/student end-this is not a Seesaw issue, it is an issue with the set up, Clever, etc.

What’s the difference?

Documentation and Learning piece

Connect up to 10 family members per student!

25 of 66

Will all your families connect successfully in this way? If not, why? What else do you need?

Some families will need to be connected in person with the help of school staff

Families are busy! Some will need to be convinced Seesaw is helpful

If families do not have email addresses, they might need help creating one so they can create a Seesaw account

Merging Accounts

Teacher’s accounts are automatically upgraded when the sync with Clever occurs. The classes created in the free version are more than likely archived. Teacher’s accounts can’t technically be merged but student accounts can. Once the Clever sync happened there should have been duplicate students in the classes whose teachers were set up with the free version. The student accounts can be merged into one in several ways depending on how they were set up originally. This can be tedious work but there are advantages. The families follow the student accounts. Any work in their journals will be merged.

Merge duplicate student accounts without IDs https://youtu.be/te1LSOW7UxM

If you’ve moved classes from the free version of Seesaw to your Seesaw for Schools dashboard, teachers may have created multiple versions of the same student. If you want to create one cohesive journal that will link the posts your students upload from year to year, and have all your students’ data in one place, you will need to add a unique student ID that does NOT change for the student’s entire career at your school for each student account listed in your Dashboard. If you do not need student content to carry over from free classes, please skip to the next section.

Find out if this is an issue:

  1. Log in as an admin on a computer using Chrome or Firefox.
  2. Click the “Overview” tab
  3. Click “Assign missing student IDs” in the Admin Tools Section.
  4. Check if you see a large list of students without IDs. This indicates you may have multiple versions of the same student.

If you have students listed here they will need IDs added to their accounts. If these students are duplicates you will be prompted to “merge” the students into one version.

Adding IDs to Your Student Accounts

To assign these IDs, you'll need to sign in to your Seesaw for Schools Admin account at https://app.seesaw.me from a Chrome or Firefox Browser.

  1. Get an export of student IDs from your student information system. (This student ID must NOT change from year to year.)
  2. Type in or paste a student ID for each missing ID. If the student ID is already in use, you will be able to merge the student accounts together to create a single account. Please carefully select the “merged” version of your student. Be sure you are choosing the correct email address- this merge cannot be undone.
  3. Use the 'Filter by' option to filter by class if you have a lot of missing IDs and it's easier to do it class by class.
  4. Click 'Save' to save all of the IDs.

Merge duplicate student accounts in classes with different sign-in modes

Sometimes students will be created with an email address in one class that uses email sign in and without an email address in a class that uses QR code sign in. You will want to merge these duplicate students. However, students with Email/Google accounts will not appear in the Missing IDs section because the email can serve as an ID within Seesaw. If you have no students missing an ID, but still are far over your license count you will need to check the class list for duplicate students with email address accounts.

  1. Log in as an admin.
  2. Click the “Students” tab.
  3. Scroll and look for duplicate students. Add the ID to the version of the student without an ID.
  4. Follow the “Merge student” prompts.

If someone has already set up their own class, what happens once Seesaw for Schools is implemented?

  • When you sync with Clever, existing accounts are found (from Free Seesaw) and pulled into their respective schools based on where they are in Clever. Their free classes and students (and all their posts) are brought into your dashboard as well! You’ll have a mixture of free classes and the Clever created classes. You can bulk archive using the instructions here.

33 of 66

When you add teachers to your Seesaw for Schools dashboard, all of their classes, students, and posts will be connected to your dashboard as well. These students will not be recognized by Clever until a Student ID or an email address is added to their account. If you would like your student's data from their previous class to stay connected to their account, you will need to add a Student ID or an email address to their account so they are recognized by Clever!

When the Clever sync is initiated, it will search for existing students in Seesaw. When Clever finds a Student ID or email address is recognizes, it will update the existing account and enroll that student into their new classes. If Clever can not find a Student ID or email address in Seesaw, it will create an account for that student and enroll them in their classes.

The Student ID in Seesaw must match the SIS_ID field in Clever. We can not match off of the Student Number, username or State ID that is in Clever.

If you did not add a Student ID or email address to your students prior to the Clever sync, your students will have two accounts in Seesaw. You can either merge the accounts together, to keep their data from previous years connected to their account. Or, *you can archive old accounts and start fresh with the Clever syncing accounts. (*recommended)

Seesaw has evolved so much in the past five years that I have been an Ambassador. In the last six months they have worked diligently to meet the needs of educators. They are constantly making improvements and updating with new features based on educator demand. They have a feature request forum where the ideas for the newest features are shared and they work to make them possible. Please let us know if you have any idea for a feature that would make using Seesaw easier or help teachers work more efficiently. We can submit it!

To push digital information to our students and families. Whether that be instruction or other forms of communication. My personal preference is to have all students utilizing seesaw everyday within their classes. This will better prepare us for the potential of off campus learning and lead to better understanding as our students and families progress through Springdale Public Schools. Use the activity created attached to google classroom within the class.

Seesaw is the LMS for K-2 remote learning. We have struggled with being able to use the google slides that our district created without having to make the kids go through so many steps. Our google slides lessons were made into weekly plans and often have around 40 slides. They will be linked from google classroom or a link can be inserted into seesaw that takes students to google slides

Seesaw is our LMS for K-2. Our goal is that when a lesson is created, teachers can just add the lesson straight to their own Seesaw classroom without haven't to recreate everything. Create an activity that can be shared with all teachers so they just have to copy and edit with their informatin if desired.
