Emergency Guidelines for Schools (Redbook): the Arizona Department of Education’s School Preparedness program is the new lead, a workgroup meets bi-weekly to make revisions, receive feedback, and discuss changes. Over the summer, school nurses provided recommendations for changes as well. Final revisions of the content will be completed by the end of August, with formatting aimed to be completed by the end of September.
The Arizona School Immunization Coalition, an effort to increase school-age vaccine rates while also lowering the number of personal belief exemptions across Arizona, is interested in hearing from school health office staff about the immunization resources for school health office staff.

The School Training Overdose Preparedness and Intelligence Taskforce: an initiative to address the opioid crisis in Arizona schools.
Mission: to develop a comprehensive and sustainable school opioid overdose education and preparation toolkit to ensure Arizona schools are equipped with the tools, policies, and resources necessary to prevent and respond to opioid overdoses on campus.
If your LEA uses an overdose monitoring form that you would like to share with the STOP-IT survey and overdose monitoring subcommittee, we welcome you to send it to ivonne.garber@azed.gov. The subcommittee is currently reviewing the monitoring form developed by the National Association of School Nurses and is interested in reviewing locally developed or adapted overdose monitoring forms in alignment with the NASN form.

The Arizona Suicide Prevention Action Plan 2024-2026 has included, for the first time, the development of a new workgroup (page 22, Tactic 4C) called the "disordered eating suicide prevention workgroup". Looking at focusing efforts on screening guidance/recommendations/best practices to then increase awareness/education across settings to improve early identification of disordered eating/eating disorders in AZ.
Updated ADHS Sensory Screening Guidance for the 2024-2025 school year! NEW: On May 8, 2024, The Governor's Regulatory Review Council voted to approve the Hearing Screening and Vision Screening Rules. The new rules are effective as of July 6, 2024. All questions and inquiries should be emailed to sensoryprogram@azdhs.gov

The SNOA conference is not until Summer 2025, but prep begins soon! Please email Lisa Alexander @ lialexander@pusd11.net if interested in joining the conference committee! Perks of joining include free tickets to the event, increased networking as you join others to create the event, and your vision and ideas becoming part of the event. The commitment is a once monthly virtual meeting for the most part, starting in October, with some email discussions in between. Committee member seats are limited, so email soon!
