Our hope with the BFZ Data Fellowship is that it will build the foundation of a broader data-minded network within the BFZ movement.

Let’s get to know each other!!

  • Hi, my name is…
    • What’s your role in your organization? What’s your role within the larger community network?
    • What is one thing you like about working with data? What is one thing you struggle with when working with data?

BFZ Data Fellowship: Goals & Expectations

Vestibulum congue tempus

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor. Ipsum dolor sit amet elit, sed do eiusmod tempor.

The Fellowship is a group of data-minded individuals all working towards the same goal - helping their communities use data to help end homelessness.

What we are going to focus on during this fellowship program:

  • Building technical skills in data analysis, visualization, and automation
  • Exploring and thinking about ways you can help your train and build skill amongst your local teams to strengthen your community’s data culture.
  • Connecting with other analysts working on similar problems and questions to build a network of BFZ Data Leads and strengthen peer to peer working relationships.

What we can expect our time together to look like:

  • We’ll review and discuss some high-level content structured around building data culture each week to help strengthen our data literacy foundations.
  • We’ll also have plenty of opportunities for hands on activity to help build and strengthen our data visualization skills.
  • Opportunities to provide feedback and help us strengthen this effort

How we help others read and understand Data

1 Improvement Medians

Your improvement medians set starting points or norms to gauge incremental progress on the way to Functional Zero. As shifts occur, new norms are calculated.

2 Shifts + Functional Zero

Your data can show shifts in your system signaling it is performing differently than before.

Most notably, your data also tracks your progress to and ability to sustain Functional Zero.

3 Inflow + Outflow

Your data helps you track movement in and out of your system. Disaggregating these metrics can help pinpoint areas of the system that more attention or support may be needed and/or where the system is working.

Let’s spend a few minutes and chat about these two questions:

  • Who are the data consumers & authors in our local community?
  • What challenges exist with communicating data to these audiences?
