GETTING TO SCHOOL & START TIMES

  • Students can ride the bus, walk or be driven to school. You will need to opt into transportation through DPS to access bus services (done in the parent portal and due by June 30).
  • Bus riders have a different start time. Their bus will get them to school by 7:40. They will have supervised reading time in the library until 7:55. Then they can go to breakfast or the playground. Dismissal time is the same as everyone, 3:10.
  • If your student is a bus rider, we will meet the them getting off the bus and get them to their classrooms and take them to the bus at the end of the day.

Swigert students are welcome to bring lunch from home or get free hot lunch from school. Your student will tell their teacher every morning if they’re choosing to have hot lunch.

Kids eat for 25 minutes and then play for about 30. Kindergarten has 2 additional recesses. This is typically when kids eat snacks.

It would be a good idea to practice lunch over the summer. Set a timer and practice opening and closing lunchboxes.
