Common Core Skills
For Students
The ‘Rule of 3’. - Compare three sources of information before coming to a conclusion on any given topic. A common misconception is that if a search result comes up first that it must be reliable, rather than simply containing the keywords from your search more than the results beneath it.
Learn about the source of information from the domain extension of a website. Some common domain extensions include .com and .org. For example, .com represents the word “commercial” (businesses like to use this extension) and .org means “organisation” (Often used by charities, non-profits, or societies). Countries also have domain extensions, like .au (which refers to Australia).
