Personality

Alcibiades might be very strong and brave, but he’s very fragile because it was his obviously strong body that made people fear him to the point of exile. He isn’t emotionally strong because when he would be heartbroken, he never had time to heal before he was heartbroken again by another exile. What no human took time to notice is that he was smart enough to learn languages and math and he only learned that himself as he thought people would accept him easier if he learned some manmade concepts like writing, another language or mathematics. And he did learn it, or enough of it when he discovered how much he liked it (he liked being as smart as humans, but didn’t know he liked it for that reason). That’s why he fell for the trick with the boat, because he displayed his knowledge of another language, he thought people mellowed out thinking how he must be closer related to humans if he took the time to learn the language, instead of the aggressive bulls, but they were blinded by his form and his head (bull head). Now he is naturally distrustful of humans and feels paranoid in their company, even though he knows their language and math. He only joined this school last year and his english isn’t yet good, and sometimes he might still talk in Ancient Greek or Hebrew or Sumerian and fill in words he doesn’t know with ancient Greek, Hebrew and Sumerian substitutes. Even though he’s already been here for a year he still doesn’t trust humans (the last time he gave in and trusted them they pushed him overboard to freeze to death), but he does trust the teachers as they congratulate him whenever he does something right and they call him smart or doing good, which is a compliment he never hung around others in the school enough to hear from them. He is a herbivore (because cows generally are) so he won’t be like his father, consuming humans to stay alive (he hasn’t got the teeth for it). He also uses his sharp horns as a defense mechanism, if he feels threatened he will point them towards the thing he feels threatened by, but up to this point he was most threatened by humans, as he feels stupid enough to be outsmarted again, while he can rely on his brute strenght with other vicious animals and he understands what vicious animals want from him, either his meat or they also feel threatened and fight for protection, but he doesn’t understand what humans would gain from breaking his heart. He also wears trousers only. It’s the trousers his mother gave him, with a iron bull buckle on his belt.

Biography

From Greek Mythology you know that it wasn’t an odd sight of seeing different people “interact” with different animals. I mean that’s how Minotaur was born (girl+bull), so it wasn’t strange for a woman in Ancient Greece to do the same thing with Minotaur himself. Alcibiades was more human than his father, but unfortunately he still looked like a half bull half man and people feared he was like his father. Needless to say he wasn’t welcome in Minos where his father’s food was human flesh and they wanted to get rid of him before he became a monster like his father. His mother wanted to nurse him like Minotaur’s mother did, and when she was not allowed to keep him this long, she left with him. Most of his life Minotaur spent in his mother’s company travelling from town to town where people feared him too much to allow to stay, even if they didn’t know the story of Minotaur yet they feared a half-bull creature. By the time he was 7 Alcibiades’ back could carry his mother while he walked like a bull to the next location. When he was 9 his mother let him be on his own now that he could while she married and stayed in the last village they visited together. When Alcibiades came to a village up north that no longer exists today people tricked him into believing he would be welcome in a ship because of his strengths (it was the type of boats where a lot of people had to paddle) and he didn’t realise they just wanted to get him closest to Antarctica as they can so they can push him overboard (all of the passengers together are strong enough for this) and his body froze and got captured inside an iceberg. Two and a half millennia later the iceberg he was captured in melted enough for him to set himself free with his brute strength. Since then he’s been roaming the Earth trying to find out how many years have passed and if his mother was still alive. After a few years, Alcibiades got an invitation, not that he knew what it was because it wasn’t in ancient greek, but he found his way to the school anyhow. Now is his first time in the company of humans who won’t banish him.

After the death of Mor’du, some hunters went out into the forest to hunt and happened upon a baby black bear all alone, no other wild life was around. They were about to kill it when they noticed it’s eyes…human. With everything they just witnessed, they decided to bring the baby bear to the Queen and the Princess. When spring came and the witch returned, Merida took the baby black bear to the witch’s cottage to ask if she had done the spell on a child by accident. Upon examination by the witch, she concluded that this was a baby bear…with a human soul. She examined him further and figured out that this wasn’t just any baby bear, it was Mor’du’s and the curse had been passed on to his son. She tried every spell in her arsenal, but to no avail. The witch informed Merida that the child may stay this way forever; saddened by this news, Merida and her family took the baby bear in and they “raised it” as best they could. Despite being a bear, Mal’da was able to understand both English and Gaelic as well as their customs and traditions. When Merida’s own child was born soon after, Mal’da and the child grew up together and became the best of friends. Alpin has a very hard time adjusting to new people - well, really, he has a hard time adjusting to people. Even when he’s with Athena, he’s usually very moody and passive-aggressive. But when Athena introduces him to anyone, he becomes downright aggressive. He likes his personal space and only allows Athena to pet him - if he lets her pet him at all. Athena sometimes wonders why she even bothers having such an aloof cat. Alpin tends to care more about his own food than anything else. Athena received Alpin as a gift from her mother a week after her father died. Alpin was still a kitten around this time, so he doesn’t have much of a backstory. A very convenient jaguar that can become a small baby jaguar if it wishes for convenience sake, Ione is Valencia’s protector from Xi’Bal’Ba. It grew up with Valencia, with Xquic. It’s been around for a very long time and often watches from the shadows- not interfering unless her or her protectee’s life is in mortal danger. Ione leaving Valencia alone is not at all possible, and since this very intellectually advanced jaguar can speak telepathically and verbally it often has been known for berated it’s protectee.

Ione was born in the underworld, from a litter of the Queen. Jaguars were seen as protectors and rulers of the underworld in Mayan mythology, which is not very far from the truth. When Valencia was conceived and brought to Xi’bal’ba, Ione was assigned to the little child.

With a very functioning mind and an animal of high intellect, at first Ione was very mad at having to watch after a useless child. A celestial force that controlled night and day, Ione had very much disdain for Valencia. The only reason Ione didn’t outright refuse was because of her father, Kukulkan. However, Valencia was not weak and even thrived in Xi’bal’ba. And even though Ione neglected her work to protect Valencia, Vally, still was able to survive and learn how to fight- aggressively. Which began to catch the jaguar’s attention and Ione finally resigned herself to look after the amusing and entertaining child. Ione is a gender-fluid, she often changes between genders to fit her personal requirements, as in strength or body mass, so being just male or just female doesn’t apply to her. She accepts all pronouns, not really caring or finding the use of them. She does however prefer the female form and chances are thats her form, so female pronouns will suffice if you don’t know quite what to say.

Nishi is extremely intelligent. Not just for a bird, she has the intelligence of a really smart dog. Maybe even the equivalent of a ten-year-old child. She’s selfish in the way that she does what’s best for her. She chose being with a caretaker over the rest of her flock. But Nishi has done plenty of things for both. Well, she’s done more for Hisao, technically.

Nishi has no problem with being around people. She is very outgoing and will often land near picnics hoping for some food - despite there being a specific order made by Hisao requesting people to not feed her. Interestingly enough, Vulpes fed her the most in the entire kingdom - Hisao exempt.

Biography

Nishi spent the first year of her life with her flock. It wasn’t until she went out one morning to spread her wings that she met Hisao. There was nothing particularly interesting about him, he was simply sitting in his room studying. Perhaps it was his mellow demeanor that made her want to hang out with him more. Hisao eventually bought a cage and she started staying there for the night. Though Hisao closed his window, he always left her cage door open.

​

Nishi continued spending time with her flock, but not nearly as much as she once did. She usually visited three times a week, until they wanted to move somewhere else. Nishi didn’t want to leave Hisao, who had fed her, taken care of her, gave her blankets to make a nest in. Nishi decided to stay with Hisao. She could always see her flock whenever they came through again.

​

On a particularly chilly day in April, Nishi was flagged down by the gardener. She had noticed Hisao and him looking at each other quite often, but as a bird she had no real concept of what human relationships were. Akio, the gardener, then attached a letter to her leg. She wasn’t sure what he wanted her to do with it, so she just went back to Hisao, who removed the letter and read the letter.

Not too long later, Hisao wrote and attached a letter to her leg as well. She let out the bird equivalent of a sigh, and flew down looking for

Otto is quite the rebellious dog, just like the one who’s taking care of his daily inconveniences. Otto is, in a sense, a very clingy dog who loves Olivia. Especially to her hospitality when he was a little pup in the woods. Back in Oz, he was much more of a rebel that nearly stresses out Olivia. As he would run frantically in her study room, make a mess in all of the blueprints, and especially would venture out in the outside world without Olivia seeing him. But when she was sent to a school, all changed when Olivia herself couldn’t bring him due to his energetic behavior. A sense of pain in Olivia’s eyes made his behavior much more tolerable ever since he followed Olivia’s command to sit down. Despite this tolerable behavior, he still manages to be clingy, but adapts when Olivia faces a challenge that could hinder her; such as her worries of his behavior when she will leave Otto in the dorms. But when she comes back, a busy day will be ahead in giving him lots of hugs and kisses.

Biography

Not much is known about the origins of Otto as he was discovered by Olivia as a little pup in the woods. Possibly left by his mother or was left by some bystander who found a perfect spot to leave him, either way, he suffered for a while as he was left blind and helpless screaming through the woods as he lived off by pitying trees who gave him falling apples. Though this was not enough to sustain him, and as soon as he was about to give up, he was lucky to have seen Olivia who quickly swept of from his helpless body. Back in Emerald City, she continued on feeding him the basic essentials to live; and as soon as he gained enough consciousness, he grew close to Olivia as a sign of thanks. Despite a reward of a companion, he showed restraint in Olivia’s efforts in at least behaving him, as he is shown to be quite the rebel around the kingdom. It was until his rebellious nature, leading to Olivia’s sudden transfer, that he showed a sign of his adaptation just to stay close to the one who saved his life; learning in his own to behave when Olivia may not need an extra trouble and worries.

Pretty was one of the Wicked Witch Flying Monkey minions, well, would have been. The problem was that he was too small, only a baby monkey, and his brain was too under-developed to be controlled by the witch. The Wicked Witch saw how pathetic he was and threw him out of her castle window, leaving him to die. With his size, he couldn’t probably fly and landed with a thud. Fortunately, a little 5-year-old Ervic found the monkey and was able to nurse him back to health, with the help of Bitsy. Being only 5, Ervic named him Pretty, as he thought that’s his name because of what his mother was always calling them. Together, the two comforted each other, despite Pretty having to be hidden from the Wicked Witch up until she died.
