Coalition Forces Overview

SITUATION

PRC forces have established an air and naval blockade of the ROC, and its island territories. Coalition forces will attempt to break the blockade to provide aid to the people of Taiwan. The Chinese have threatened to destroy any aircraft, ship, and submarine that crosses into the Blockade Zone.

Utilise C-5M Galaxy and C-17A Globemaster transport aircraft, as well as LHA, LPD, LSD, LCC, and T-AK ships, to deliver aid to Hualien City. Provide escorts to the aforementioned assets to discourage Chinese hostile acts, and to ensure safe passage. SKYMASTER ROE:

• Coalition forces are NOT to commence hostilities with the PRC without clear provocation; Coalition transports should also refrain from penetrating the Blockade Zone without escorting forces. (Victory Points will not be awarded for any PRC units destroyed prior to the onset of hostilities).

• WEAPONS HOLD is current in effect in all domains. Weapons release will be authorised should PRC hostile actions be detected, or should the PRC directly threaten to open imminent hostilities against Coalition forces.

J2 (INTELLIGENCE) HIGHLIGHTS:

• The PLAN has all of their aircraft carriers at sea, three (3) CVs, and one (1) CVN. However, it is predicted that only the Type 002 and Type 003 CVAs will enter Op SKYMASTER’s operating area. The Type 004 CVN has established a barrier between Okinawa and north-eastern Taiwan, while the Type 001 CV is being held in reserve to the east of Hong Kong.
• Due to aggressive posturing and military exercises in the Sea of Japan by elements of the Chinese Northern Fleet, the Russian Pacific Fleet, and North Korea, the vast majority of Japan Self-Defense Forces’ assets are currently not available at this stage.
• PLASSF and Ministry of State Security (MSS) cyber warfare teams have increased their operations against Coalition bases in the western Pacific in recent weeks. Coalition cyber teams are attempting to patch vulnerabilities, but the PRC has demonstrated its abilities to interrupt power supplies to military facilities by targeting civilian infrastructure, including powerplants.
• The PLA Rocket Force (PLARF) has numerous batteries of ballistic missiles on alert but it is unclear exactly which units will be deployed against Coalition forces in this operation. It has been confirmed that DF-26 and DF-27 ASBM batteries are on high readiness.

• Due to heavy losses sustained in recent aerial skirmishes between the ROCAF and PLAAF/PLANAF units, Taiwan’s F-16Vs and other fighters will not be available at this stage. There is a Patriot missile battery, located next to Chiashan AFB, that is available for defensive taskings.
• So far, the PRC has not conducted military strikes on the island of Taiwan as the Chinese Premier believes the blockade will force the ROC into “peaceful” re-unification. However, as part of their escalation, China has begun conducting daily artillery bombardments of all of the ROC-controlled islands along the eastern coast of the Chinese mainland. At this stage, it is classed as unlikely that the PRC will strike Taiwan directly during this stage of Operation SKYMASTER, but it cannot be completely ruled out.
• The following Coalition vessels have access to Direct Energy Weapons (DEWs); HELIOS laser equipped ships: USS Dewey, USS Lyndon B Johnson and USS Little Rock. High-Power Microwave (HPM) weapon equipped ships: USS Casablanca and USS James D Watkins. The scientists at DARPA and across the other Coalition technology divisions are very much looking forward to reading the after-action reports as these systems have never been tested in such a high-threat environment before.

• Due to the aforementioned cyber-attacks, operations at Coalition airbases have been disrupted, and therefore some land-based aircraft are not ready for immediate launch.
• Coalition CVNs and major airbases have large amounts of most munitions available, although weapons like the HAWC AShMs are in short supply.
