Result 4: Bridging the inter-sectoral communication gap: What is required to succeed in HE & How to let prospective students know?

1) a message to pre-HE actors on how to better prepare future university SS & 2) recommendations to HEIs on how best to engage with pre-university education actors to make student transition smoother (good practice in co-operation processes and methodologies).

Result 3: Self-Assessment Tool based on a competence profile of a HE teacher ready to support diverse students in their transition to HE

R3 describes the competence profile of HE AA equipped to support

diverse SS’ transition to HE: meeting SS where they are, making sure

SS engage with learning & peers, helping SS persist & succeed

through using diagnostic & formative assessment, & learning & teaching

activities based on research on how learning works, UDL etc.

Result 3: Self-Assessment Tool …

R3 is expressed in terms of learning outcomes (LOs) of different focus & level

of complexity. It invites AA to self-assess & identify next developmental

goals. R3 is also intended to guide (1) PD strategic planning & (2)

HEI efforts to incentivize & reward excellence in supporting SS transition

in core curriculum activities.

Includes the Self-Assessment guidelines & recommendations for recognition.

Result 2: Handbook

ready by 15 Dec 2024

  • R2 comprises a collection of concrete activities & approaches to help

(1) 1st-y. SS from different disciplines build their learning power (learn to learn in ways required in HE) &

(2) guide those teaching 1st-y. SS in revising their own approaches to assessment (especially diagnostic & formative), learning & teaching to make these more inclusive, engaging & motivating for SS (cf. UDL & culturally-responsive teaching) – so as to promote student retention & set ALL SS for success.

  • Voices of AA from different disciplines will be included – to increase the face validity of the handbook.

  • Between LTTA4 & LTTA5: local “LTTAs” to ensure activities ‘make sense’ to AA from programmes in disciplines that were not present in LTTAs 3 & 4 – activities are adapted for each discipline & such variations are written down to be included into the handbook

  • ‘Activities’ linked to the Result 3 profile elements
