Invite Teachers to your class

You can invite additional teachers to join your class to help coordinate class activities. Here are a few class permissions to be aware of:

  • *Only the primary teacher can delete a class.
  • *The primary teacher cannot unenroll or be removed from a class.
  • *Additional teachers cannot be muted in a class.
  • *The primary teacher and additional teachers are notified of students’ private comments if email notifications are on. Students can send an email if they want to communicate directly with a specific teacher.
  • *The primary teacher owns all class materials, including Google Drive assignment folders, submitted assignments, and templates. The primary teacher’s class and assignment folders are shared with additional teachers in Drive. If the primary teacher changes their folder structure, additional teachers might lose access to student work submitted before the additional teachers feature launched.
  • *Materials that additional teachers add to assignments or posts are shared and available in the primary teacher’s class and assignment folders.

Set Class Permissions

*Students can share a message in the class stream as well as comment on messages, announcements, and assignments from you and other students.

*You can control students’ messages and comments in the class stream by setting permissions for individual students or for the whole class.

*You can also see any comments and messages that a student made and then deleted.

Class Calendar

Classroom creates a calendar for all classes, and work with a due date is automatically added to the class calendar.

You can view the calendar in Classroom or in Google Calendar on your computer and mobile devices.

*Select multiple classes to save time

9 of 16

Closer look @ Assignments

*Name your assignment

*Select a due date

(no date if you’d like)

*Decide how students can view files

*Select file to attach

Archive Class

*At the end of the school year or a semester, you may want to archive a class to preserve the class materials, any assignments, and any postings to the class stream.

*You can still access any class files in Google Drive, but the archived classes are moved to a separate area to help you keep your current classes organized.

*An archived class can be viewed by you and the students in the class.

*However, when the class is archived, you can't edit or add anything to the class until you restore it.

Warning: There is no way to undo deleting a class. If you click Delete, you will no longer have access to any class posts or comments. However, you can still access class documents in Drive.

Get your class on the same (web)page, instantly.Google Classroom Teachers: Save time and create a more interactive class with the Share to Classroom extension. The extension allows you to push webpages to any of your Classroom classes, so they open instantly on your students' computers. With this extension, you can get your students on the right page, quickly and reliably every time. You can also post announcements, create assignments, or save webpages to post to Classroom later.Students: The Share to Classroom extension gets you to webpages your teacher shares, without you having to type out the whole URL. You can also push web pages directly to your teacher.

*When students “pushed” a website to me, a notification appeared in the bottom corner of my screen, which included the student’s name and the website they shared. Their website suggestion DID NOT appear in a new tab on my screen!*
