Can Geo Education has over 200 different resources to explore. Today we are just going to focus on the Indigenous resources we have been developing over the past few years. Most resources I highlight today is available in both official languages. Each resource also had a different perspective and approach to Indigenous education as well as provides multiple resources accompanying each resource.

All of our Indigenous resources have been created by Indigenous educators. Can Geo Education worked with them to make sure all resources are authentic and representative to the stories that are being told. We also recognize that we haven’t covered everything - this is just merely the beginning of what we can do, but we do feel like it is a step in the right direction.

This program was created as part of a larger initiatives dedicated to highlighting community relocation in Canada - both past and present. The places included in this resource are merely a selection of the hundreds of communities that were relocated for various reasons.

The places selected for this program have been placed into 6 themes:

Urban transformation
Parks vs People
War Stories
Booms to Busts
Policies of Movement
Industrial Evolution

The communities were selected to illustrate regional diversity but also ones that were connected to the 6 themes. We acknowledge that there are hundreds of communities that underwent relocations. This is a resource aimed at getting people to begin discussions on Canada’s history from various perspectives.
