Who are we?

Trail Cameras

• Used the grant money to buy wildlife tracking cameras
• Environmental science classes set them up
• So far, we’ve caught lots of birds, turkeys, squirrels, etc

• The idea for the trail cams on Huron’s campus came from an classroom activity that the HHMI (Howard Hughes Medical Institute) BioInteractive has for how Gorongosa National Park in Africa measures biodiversity called WildCam Gorongosa
• Each ESS Student has to complete their own independent research, so we are always looking for opportunities for students to be able to gather their own data.

Miller Creek Improvement Plan

• Using wildlife that we’ve tracked
• Talking to Huron River Watershed about how the creek and its ecosystem has changed over the years

• There was a plan 15 years ago to help with the habitat, watershed hydrology and cleanliness
• Haven’t had an update on this in a while – going to look into this
