“Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord.”
“Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord.”
SCRIPTURE
3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;
5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.
6 For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.
9 Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.
10 When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;
11 Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:
- Proverbs 2:3,5-6,9-11
“Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord.”
David A. Bednar
Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
Unlike worldly fear that creates alarm and anxiety, godly fear is a source of peace, assurance, and confidence… As the scriptures certify, godly fear “is the beginning of knowledge”, “the instruction of wisdom”, a “strong confidence”, and “a fountain of life”…
My beloved brothers and sisters, godly fear dispels mortal fears... Godly fear is loving and trusting in Him. As we fear God more completely, we love Him more perfectly…
- Elder David A. Bednar, “Therefore They Hushed Their Fears,”General Conference, April 2015
Tell Me, Dear Lord(Children’s Songbook #176)
MUSIC
1. Tell me, dear Lord, in thine own way I pray,
What thou would'st have me say and do today.
Teach me to know and love thy will, O Lord;
Help me to understand thy loving word.
2. I would be guided by thy loving hand;
Would hear thy voice, obey thy blest command.
Each moment just to know that thou art near
Will strength impart and banish ev'ry fear.

6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
- Proverbs 3:5-6
I can trust in the Lord with all my heart
Walter F. González
Of the Seventy
We learn here that our Savior always wants to bless us. Some blessings may come immediately, others may take longer, and some may even come after this life, but blessings will come in due time…
We can trust Him because He loves us and wants what is best for us in every circumstance… As we come unto Him, God will come to our rescue, whether to heal us or to give us the strength to face any situation...
Nothing bad can come from God. He knows what is best for us. Perhaps He will not remove our burdens right away. Sometimes He can make those burdens feel lighter… The Savior is a God we can trust. He is the Christ, the Anointed One, the Messiah…
- Elder Walter F. González , “The Savior’s Touch,”General Conference, October 2019
Faith(Children’s Songbook #96)
MUSIC
1. Faith is knowing the sun will rise, lighting each new day.
Faith is knowing the Lord will hear my prayers each time I pray.
Faith is like a little seed: If planted, it will grow.
Faith is a swelling within my heart. When I do right, I know.
2. Faith is knowing I lived with God before my mortal birth.
Faith is knowing I can return when my life ends on earth.
Faith is trust in God above; In Christ, who showed the way.
Faith is strengthened; I feel it grow Whenever I obey

I can trust in the Lord with all my heart
“Ponder the path of thy feet.”
“Ponder the path of thy feet.”
SCRIPTURE
11 I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths.
14 Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men.
15 Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.
18 But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.
19 The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.
26 Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.
27 Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.
- Proverbs 4:11,14-15,18-19,26-27
“Ponder the path of thy feet.”
Elaine L. Jack
Former Relief Society General President
Even though we live in very difficult and challenging times, we are on the path to eternal life, and we cannot afford to be delayed or deterred. In Proverbs we read the admonition, “Ponder the path of thy feet”…
Satan is ruthless, and his efforts are never ending…We have within us the Spirit of the Lord to guide us on the path of righteousness. Daily, we choose between temptation and sanctification. We seek spiritual moments as we read the scriptures. We pray and carry that prayer in our hearts… Look to the Lord for direction and guidance.
- Sister Elaine L. Jack,“‘Ponder the Path of Thy Feet’,”General Conference, October 1993
I Will Walk with Jesus(Primary 2020 Theme Song)
MUSIC
1. Jesus walked in wisdom; Jesus grew in truth.
He showed love to God and man while in His youth.
Jesus wants to guide me. Jesus shows the way,
Calling me to come and walk with Him each day.
2. I can grow like Jesus. I will try each day,
Promising to walk His path and there to stay.
Standing by my Savior, safe within His care,
Step by step I’ll follow, and His love I’ll share.
3. I will trust in Jesus. I will hear His call.
He will never leave me, even when I fall.
Jesus gives me power, lifts and comforts me,
Helping me to live and grow eternally.
Words: Mary M. Dodge, about 1831–1905
Music: W. K. Bassford, 1839–1902

As I walk with Jesus to my home above,
He will bless me with His Spirit and fill me with His love,
Change my heart forever and help me clearly see.
I will walk with Jesus, and He will walk with me.
“Ponder the path of thy feet.”

SCRIPTURE
1 A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.
2 The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness.
3 The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.
18 A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.
28 The heart of the righteous studieth to answer: but the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things.
- Proverbs 15:1-3,18,28
I can use kind words
Joseph B. Wirthlin
Former Member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
Kindness is the essence of a celestial life. Kindness is how a Christlike person treats others. Kindness should permeate all of our words and actions at work, at school, at church, and especially in our homes…
The things you say, the tone of your voice, the anger or calm of your words—these things are noticed by your children and by others. They see and learn both the kind and the unkind things we say or do. Nothing exposes our true selves more than how we treat one another in the home…
If you are criticizing others, you are weakening the Church. If you are building others, you are building the kingdom of God. As Heavenly Father is kind, we also should be kind to others…Who can tell what far-reaching impact we can have if we are only kind?
- Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin, “The Virtue of Kindness,”General Conference, April 2005
Kindness Begins with Me(Children's Songbook #135)
MUSIC
I want to be kind to ev’ryone,
For that is right, you see.
So I say to myself, “Remember this:
Kindness begins with me.”

I can use kind words
0:39
I can share what I have with others.
I can share what I have with others
SCRIPTURE
1 A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.
2 The rich and poor meet together: the LORD is the maker of them all.
4 By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life.
9 He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he giveth of his bread to the poor.
16 He that oppresseth the poor to increase his riches, and he that giveth to the rich, shall surely come to want.
- Proverbs 22:1-2,4,9,16
I can share what I have with others
Joe J. Christensen
Former Member of the Seventy
If we are to be self-reliant and in a position to share, obviously we must acquire some resources. If we live within our means and avoid debt, resources can be accumulated… be generous in giving and sharing with others.
The more our hearts and minds are turned to assisting others less fortunate than we, the more we will avoid the spiritually cankering effects that result from greed, selfishness, and overindulgence…
Our resources are a stewardship, not our possessions. I am confident that we will literally be called upon to make an accounting before God concerning how we have used them to bless lives and build the kingdom… Giving really is at the heart of our faith.
- Elder Joe J. Christensen, “Greed, Selfishness, and Overindulgence,”General Conference, April 1999
“Give,” Said the Little Stream(Children’s Songbook #236)
MUSIC
1. “Give,” said the little stream,
“Give, oh! give, give, oh! give.”
“Give,” said the little stream,
As it hurried down the hill;
“I’m small, I know, but wherever I go The fields grow greener still.”
2. “Give,” said the little rain,
“Give, oh! give, give, oh! give.”
“Give,” said the little rain,
As it fell upon the flow’rs;
“I’ll raise their drooping heads again,”
As it fell upon the flow’rs.

3. Give, then, as Jesus gives,
Give, oh! give, give, oh! give.
Give, then, as Jesus gives;
There is something all can give.
Do as the streams and blossoms do:
For God and others live.
Chorus:
Singing, singing all the day,
“Give away, oh! give away.”
Singing, singing all the day,
“Give, oh! give away.”
I can share what I have with others
Mortal life is temporary
Mortal life is temporary
SCRIPTURE
4 One generation passeth away, and another generation cometh: but the earth abideth for ever.
5 The sun also ariseth, and the sun goeth down, and hasteth to his place where he arose.
6 The wind goeth toward the south, and turneth about unto the north; it whirleth about continually, and the wind returneth again according to his circuits.
9 The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.
10 Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us.
- Ecclesiastes 1:4-6,9-11
Mortal life is temporary
Dieter F. Uchtdorf
Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
You and I participated in a Grand Council where our beloved Father presented His plan for us—that we would come to earth, receive mortal bodies, learn to choose between good and evil, and progress in ways that would not otherwise be possible… That is why we are here on this beautiful planet earth—because God offered us the opportunity, and we chose to accept it.
Our mortal life, however, is only temporary and will end with the death of our physical body. But the essence of who you and I are will not be destroyed. Our spirits will continue living and await the Resurrection—a free gift to all by our loving Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. At the Resurrection, our spirits and bodies will be reunited, free from pain and physical imperfections.
- Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf, “O How Great the Plan of Our God!,”General Conference, October 2016
I Lived in Heaven(Children’s Songbook #4)
MUSIC
1. I lived in heaven a long time ago, it is true;
Lived there and loved there with people I know. So did you.
Then Heav’nly Father presented a beautiful plan,
All about earth and eternal salvation for man.
2. Father said he needed someone who had enough love
To give his life so we all could return there above.
There was another who sought for the honor divine.
Jesus said, “Father, send me, and the glory be thine.”
3. Jesus was chosen, and as the Messiah he came,
Conquering evil and death through his glorious name,
Giving us hope of a wonderful life yet to be
Home in that heaven where Father is waiting for me.
