IRTC Mundur

Integrated Rural Technology Centre, Mundur (IRTC) is an independent Research and Development organization founded by Kerala Sastra Sahithya Parishad and a grant-in-aid institute of Kerala State Council for Science Technology and Education, Government of Kerala. The institution was established in 1987 and is located at Palakkad district in Kerala. The aim of this organization is to spread Science and Technology among masses and to create a technology- human interface. The institution is constantly working to meet the challenges in front and find amicable and sustainable solutions to improve the standard of life.

Development�According to PERROUX (1971-65), defines development as "the combination of mental and social changes among the population which decide to increase its real and global products, cumulatively and in a sustainable manner"� In the present study, by the term development refers to the scientific attitude development of IRTC Mundur

Scientific attitude�According to National Society for the Study of Education (NSSE), “Scientific attitudes can be defined as open-mindedness, desire for accurate knowledge, confidence in procedures for seeking knowledge and the expectation that the solution of the problem will come through the use of verified knowledge”.� In the present study, by the term scientific attitude is a disposition to act in a certain way or a demonstration of feelings and thoughts.

To find out the role of IRTC for developing scientific attitude in society
To analyse the methods adopted for changing the learning process of science among people
To study the innovative practices and technologies for the development of scientific culture among the masses

METHOD OF STUDY

To find out the contributions of IRTC Mundur towards scientific attitude and its present educational activities, the investigator used the case study method. The investigator used interviews and document analysis as the technique of data collection.

Sample of the study includes the administrators, resource faculties, and scientists of IRTC Mundur
