Key Business Initiatives

1. Short-, Medium-, and Long-Term Priorities

Short Term:

  • Our immediate priority is to stabilise our businesses, protect liquidity, and strengthen our balance sheet.
  • In the short-term, we will focus on optimising and future-proofing our online journey, introducing multiple delivery options while at the same time investing in hygiene factors, including fraud and loss prevention, to further improve the digital experience.
  • Our focus is on retaining our existing, loyal customers and enticing them to spend more with us, while at the same time converting occasional shoppers into WRewards members who shop more frequently and acquiring new customers, with a focus on growing our black customer base.

  • FBH: One of our critical priorities remains increasing our share of the Fashion, Beauty and Home market by focusing on fixing and repositioning the business, while simultaneously driving future growth.
  • Building our Beauty business as a destination category and experience will continue to be a key focus.

Food: We will keep innovating products and ranges that will continue to lead and inspire our customers, providing them with a curated offer of their desired food and cooking solutions. In addition, we continue to focus on how we deliver these inspiring solutions to our customers through easy and accessible convenience – be it in our stores, in their workplaces or homes, at recreational activities, events or online

  • The accelerated adoption of e-commerce, along with resultant store closures, will have a significant impact on the South African real estate market. While we are currently well positioned regarding lease renewal periods, exposure in sought-after nodes, and favourable rental agreements, we will strive to be more considered and flexible in our real estate decisions by exiting unprofitable space and negotiating more favourable lease terms. We will also continue to improve our trading densities with better in-store catalogues and services, and will modernise our physical stores to deliver unique, in-store experiences.

Medium- Long:

  • Our WFS digital roadmap remains a strategic focus as we future-fit our card offerings to make them more relevant to our customers and to Woolworths.
  • The existing trend towards wellbeing and comfort has accelerated in the current year as our customers’ lifestyles rapidly evolve, with more of them working remotely and increasingly valuing home nesting and comfort. We will respond to this by increasing our focus on active and lounge wear, with a longer term view of this being a key part of a wellbeing offer.

1. Connect

Get favourable attention - varied & creative: Compliment, Ask a question, Referral, Educate, Startle AND Establish yourself as a problem solver that creates value & ROI

Hi, It looks like you're doing some amazing work on recent promos, I'd love to understand how campaign X went and what exciting campaigns you're planning to do next?

I understand that engaging customers in order to create moments for specific customer actions is becoming increasingly difficult with the average attention span of 9 seconds to create interest. Based on our discussions around your Marketing strategy and the importance of maintaining and growing your customer base, I believe that Mobiz can drastically improve your ability to connect with your consumers Mobiz enables 30x engagement over email and 100x engagement over standard SMS as well as reduce your resource cost and improve your agility to deliver campaigns according to your priorities and timelines without having the hassle of managing SLA's and dealing with lost opportunities caused by delays.

Move to next step- ask more questions to lead to uncovering their issues/challenges

Can we meet next week to kickstart a POC? In Meeting: May I ask some questions around your approaches and current methods of engagement?

2. Collaborate

Research and determine the buyers current situation as well a Authority, Budget, Need and Timeline

Fact finding with customer in conversation: see questions :

AS-IS

What are your required features for a solution like this?; What could you change about your current tools/resources/situation re campaign design & execution; What do you like about the current set up ie what's working? who are your current providers/and how or why did you select them?Authority: In addition to you, who else is involved in the buying process? Budget: How much are you spending on this currently? Need: What kind of pressure are you getting to make some changes?

Should Be

What changes would you like to see? Can we run POC?; Have you set aside budget? ; Do you have ability to create ad-hoc campaigns? ; Can you automate segmentation and how do you improve next campaigns? How do you personalise your campaigns? How are your metrics looking for CTR?

Barriers

What are the risks of staying with your current supplier? In addition to the challenges of customer reach, engagement online, are there any other challenges you are facing? What are your timings to start using Mobiz or starting with a POC? What other discussions should we have and with whom to take this forward? Are there any dependencies that could hinder progress? Where in priority does this sit for your organisation?

Benefit/ Payout

If you can run POC and show good/ better results, what impact would this have Marketing (division) on COMPANY X as a whole? How would your team perform differently? What would your time to execute look like? Would your time spent with agencies be reduced?

Capability

I understand that engaging customers in order to create moments for specific customer actions is becoming increasingly difficult with the average attention span of 9 seconds to create interest.

I understand that you may already be using SMS and email and have agencies that manage your campaign

If I can solve that, can we go ahead?

Tell me more?

Being concerned about the outcome/time/price is normal, I understand if you may be hesitant to try another channel

Why do you say that or feel that way?

In addition to what you've just said, is there anything else you're concerned about?

I agree your team may to spend a bit of time on a new tool and will be an additional expense to execute campaigns on Mobiz. You've also expressed concerns around maintaining your customers and the resource outlay for agency work (time and money) and the need to be more agile in these economic times. With Mobiz, we not only guide your team every step of the way to equip them to send campaigns, but we also have the ability to schedule campaign sends, hyper-personalize your content for better engagement as well as there is no cost to consumer to engage which enables you to be agile and capitalize on ad-hoc campaign sending, improve resource efficiency, reduce spend and (time waiting for) agencies by upskilling your current resources and maximise your ability to reach and retain your customers!

Imagine that you can reduce your dependency and spend whilst simultaneously improving marketing performance, customer loyalty and boosting sale opportunities? Imagine your team having the ability to execute campaigns speedily to capitalise on opportunities to deploy scheduled campaigns, leveraging their current skills and removing the delay from external parties, which means when supply chain has stock to move, marketing can create offers and promotions in little to no time and deploy it at their convenience.

Consider objections: Price, timing, man-power, supplier in place, No need
