Arithmetic progression
Arithmetic progression
An Arithmetic Progression (AP) is a sequence of numbers in which the difference between any two consecutive terms is constant.
Example: 2, 5, 8, 11, 14... (Here, the common difference is 3).
COMMON TERMS USED IN AP
1,4,7,10,13,…
First Term , a = 1
Common Difference , d = 3
10,15,20,25,30,…
First Term , a = 10
Common Difference , d = 5
General form of an ap
a, a + d, a + 2d, a + 3d, ..., a + (n - 1)d
N TH TERM OF AN AP
an= a+(n-1)d
=3+(10-1)*5
=3+9*5
=3+45
=47
