The [NAME] is a safe, welcoming, and familiar space that can help students with all of their health needs. SBHCs are different from your local county health department and the school nurse. They are able to provide physical and mental health services right at the school, including:

• Primary care, such as routine physical exams, prescriptions, treating minor illnesses and injuries, and more.
• Prevention and early intervention, such as screenings and counseling
• Behavioral health counseling
• Dental services
• Health education and nutrition counseling
• Lab work
• Immunizations, such as the COVID-19 vaccine

Benefits

• You won’t have to take time off of work or find transportation to take your child to the doctor. They can get everything they need at school, and get right back to class.
• Care is provided at no cost to students and no student will be turned away, regardless of your ability to pay or citizenship status.¹

When our children are healthy—mentally, physically, and emotionally—they are able to focus better in school, they will have less sick days, and they will have stronger and healthier relationships with their friends and family.

Give your child the tools they need to be prepared for the future and make responsible decisions about their health and well-being. Talk with them about the importance of being healthy! In Oregon, by law, kids older than 15 can make a medical appointment on their own, and if they are 14 or older, they can make their own mental health appointments.
