Mission and Vision
MISSION: Our thriving village elevates character, inspires innovation, encourages growth, and
empowers our global community.
SIT FOCUS: It is the expectation, in perpetuity, that the CHHS School Improvement Team works to
support academic growth across all subgroups with an emphasis on those subgroups
that are not currently achieving at a level of proficiency.
VISION: Chapel Hill High School is a thriving village where all voices are valued.

Instructional Excellence: Preparing Students for Life
Reading Goal: Students in all groups will continue to grow in reading proficiency according to ESSA target standards. Overall student performance will increase yearly by 2.0 percentage points in reading with emphasis on increasing proficiency by 2.6 percentage points yearly among our Black student population, 2.4 percentage points yearly among our LatinX student population, and 3.2 percentage points yearly among our Students with Disabilities.
Math Goal: Students in all groups will continue to grow in math proficiency according to ESSA target standards. Overall student performance will increase yearly by 3.0 percentage points in math with emphasis on increasing proficiency by 3.6 percentage points yearly among our Black student population.
Multi-Language Learner Acquisition Goal: English Language Learners will increase progress towards Yearly Measures of Interim Progress by 3.47 percentage points each year.
Creating a Culture of Safety and Wellness
Discipline Goal: CHHS will decrease the disproportionality of office discipline referrals by 4% yearly with a focus on decreasing referrals of the following: English Language Learners, Black Males, Black Females, and Students with Disabilities.
School Culture Goal: All students, staff, and parents will feel safe, valued, and welcome as member of the Chapel Hill High School Community.
Strengthening Family & Community Engagement
CHHS will host a minimum of four family and community engagement events each year.
Empowering, Equipping and Investing in Our People
Chapel Hill High School will provide a duty-free lunch period for every teacher on a daily basis as well as a duty-free instructional planning time for every full-time assigned classroom teacher, with a goal of providing an average of at least five full hours of planning time per week.

Indicator 1: A2.01 Instructional Teams meet regularly (e.g., twice a month or more for 45 minutes each meeting) to review implementation of effective practice and student progress.
Indicator 2: B1.03: A Leadership Team consisting of the principal, teachers who lead the Instructional Teams, and other professional staff meets regularly (at least twice a month) to review implementation of effective practices.1
Indicator 3: C2.01: The LEA/School regularly looks at school performance data and aggregated classroom observation data and uses that data to make decisions about school improvement and professional development needs.
Indicator 4: A2.07 ALL teachers include vocabulary development as learning objectives.
