Climate Justice

2

The asymmetry between emissions and impacts makes Climate Change not simply an issue of science and policy, but one of Climate Justice.

Climate justice is a movement that seeks to ensure that the burdens and benefits of climate change are shared equitably. (Common but differentiated responsibility)

Non-Economic Loss and Damage and NCDs

4

Climate Change is expected to lead to an increase in the prevalence of NCDs as a result of :

  1. Disrupting food systems:

These events can damage crops and livestock, leading to food shortages and price spikes.

2. Air pollution: Air pollution is a major risk factor for NCDs such as respiratory diseases and cancer.

3. Extreme weather events: persons with NCDs are more vulnerable to the impacts of extreme weather events such as floods, hurricanes, droughts, and wildfires.
