Middle Truss - Align and Mark
Separately, lay down an 18 ft 2x6 rafter (pre-cut to 216”) and then measure and mark 12” from one end.

90 degree angle
On the ground lay down a 8 ft 2x6 stud (uncut)and then place over it a 14 ft 2x8 joist (pre-cut to 171”).
Important notes: 1) the joist is over the stud, 2) the stud should be aligned with the left end of the joist (all trusses need to be identical).
Make sure that the boards are aligned flush on the back and placed at exactly 90 degrees. Tack the, together with 3 to 4 screws.

Middle Truss - Mark and Cut
Lay down the 216” 2x6 board to form a triangle with the previous boards (as shown). Align the 12” mark on this board with the end of 2x8. Align the other end
Next, mark the 2 cut lines shown on the illustration and then cut (1) the boards along those line.

Middle Truss - Fasten
After cutting, reassemble the triangle on the ground and fasten boards as shown.
Replace screws with nails: fasten joist to stud (left) and to rafter (right) using (7x) 16D - 3” nails at each end.
Fasten rafter to stud using a 3”x7” tie plate and (20x) 10D 1.5” nails (one in each hole).
Middle Truss - Truss Heel
Next, flip the truss onto to the other side (so that the joist is under the rafter and stud).
Then measure 9.25” from the end of the joist and draw a vertical line to the bottom of the rafter. Measure that vertical line.
Grab a 6 ft 2x10 board and draw on it the triangle you just measured.
Cut this triangle out of the 2x10 and make sure it fits under the rafter.
The attach it to the rafter using a 3”x7” tie plate and
(20x) 10D 1.5” nails (one in each hole).
