Pre-School Programming

GOAL: To develop the whole child

• Promote development in gross motor, fine motor, social, emotional, self-help, sensory and intellectual growth.
• Emphasizing literacy and providing experiences with pre-reading skills, science exploration and math manipulatives integrated into the curriculum.
• One blended classroom with a Teacher, Teacher Aide, and inclusive support via a speech pathologist, occupational therapist, and social worker.
• Half Day programming for 3 year old’s and 4 year olds
• Family Activities and Field trips (virtual/non-virtual)

Screening

• Purpose: To determine if your child has some developmental needs and/or further evaluation is needed.
• Contact Mrs. Ingram, Program Coordinator, (708)339-4433 ext. 217to schedule screening

Enrollment/Registration

• To get started, contact the Mrs. Ingram, Program Coordinator at (708)339-4433 ext. 217
• Provide your child’s name, date of birth, parent/guardian name, address, phone number and preferred email address
• Resident of School District boundary
• Residency Verification must be completed
• Screening date and time will be given to the parent/guardian
• Once residency verification/screening is completed you will be notified so that you can complete Pre-registration.
• Acceptance for a seat is based on availability and priority of need.
• Any child who is three years old on or before September 1st (every calendar year)

Self Help Skills

• Put on and take off coat
• Hanging up their coat
• Tie their own shoes
• Snap, button, and buckle,
• Pack and unpack their bookbag
• Bathroom etiquette ( potty trained, hand washing, privacy etc.)
• Wearing a mask (optional)

Social Skills

• Listen to an adult and follow directions even though they may disagree
• Cooperate with other children
• Sit for extended periods of time
• Follow two step directions
• Teach them to use their words to express their likes, dislikes, wants, and needs
• Allow them some independence
• Establish routines and a consistent schedule
• Understand the importance of “wait time”

Intellectual Skills

• Be able to identify all 26 letters of the alphabet
• Know all the letter sounds of the alphabet
• Recognize their first name
• Write their first name
• Count up to 25
• Sit and listen to a story for 15 minutes
• Know basic colors and shapes
• Work on Fine Motor Skills ( coloring, cutting, playing with play dough, )

• 8:50 - 9:10: Morning Meeting
• 9:10 - 9:30: Circle Time
• 9:30 - 9:35: Brain Break
• 9:35 - 10:05: Large Group/Story Time
• 10:05 - 10:20: Brain Break/Snack
• 10:20 - 10:50: Small Group
• 10:20 - 11:20: Learning Centers, Boom Cards, and Learning Packets
• 11:20... Dismissal
