Curriculum
AVID class activities and assignments are designed to develop students’ academic skills using WICOR:
Tutorials-2x per week
A time and place where students bring a point of confusion from a content class and receive support from their classmates to work the problem, ask questions, and find solutions.

Agendas
AVID students are supplied with a YHS Agenda and are required to keep a detailed Daily Agenda for all classes:
Course of Study: A-G Requirements
AVID students are expected to take courses to fulfill A-G requirements (which also fulfills YHS graduation requirements).��
Grades of C or better required in ALL classes!
Honors and AP classes are recommended
Students will complete biweekly grade checks and create SMART Goals if they have a D or F in any class.
Potential AVID Field Trips (4-6 a year)
Students are highly encouraged to participate in fundraising opportunities to support the AVID program and extracurricular activities!

1. What if you only want to do AVID in grade 9?
That is fine - we encourage students stay in the program throughout high school but it is not “required”. However being in AVID guarantees them a spot for the next year if there is limited seats.
Yes - but it might require summer school or 0 period depending on the other program elective requirements. Your YHS counselor will help you navigate your schedule.
