  2. Number your chart paper 1-5 leaving room to answer each question
  3. Your group will be assigned one of the questions for Part 1—study your map and answer that question FIRST writing your answer in both your science notebooks and on your chart.
  4. Work to complete all of the questions before time for the activity is up.
  5. Your group will be responsible for reporting the answer your team found for your assigned question--all groups will have the opportunity to challenge the answers given by each team with evidence they found.

  1. Look carefully at the map—notice and discuss features—do you see anything surprising? What geographical features does Antarctica have?
  2. Brainstorm questions that can be answered with the Antarctica map.
  3. Choose 2 questions that can be answered by studying the map—NO “yes/no” questions! Questions should require careful thought or observation to be able to answer it.
  4. Write the questions on your group’s chart paper—1 question at the top—the other halfway down the paper—use large, legible printing that can be read from 5’ away-leave space for answers (but don’t write answers!)

CAROUSEL SHARING—with your group, you will move from chart to chart answering the other groups’ questions--the facilitator will tell you when to move to your next slide. You will have 3-5 minutes for each slide.

Group 1--will move to Group 2’s chart (use red marker)

Group 2--will move to Group 3’s chart (use blue marker)

Group 3--will move to Group 4’s chart (use green marker)

Group 4--will move to Group 1’s chart (use purple marker)
