Athletic Scheduling
Caiti Worwood, Kelsey Benjamin, Kat Bullock
Organization Process Overview
The business process we explored was athletic scheduling.
We created a form to manage and improve the efficiency of this, which is currently all paper-based.
Our goal was to create a prototype that would allow the student-athlete, professor and coach to complete all of these steps via google form.
Database Opportunities
Needs Overview for Improvement
Key data involved in this business process are Chatham athletic teams and team schedules.
The current methods of data capture, processing, storage, and management are primarily paper-based, although this information is then transferred over to to a computer by hand.
Technically, their data needs are met, but this data could be a lot more efficient if digitized.
The business organization could be improved by implementing an information system that cuts the necessity for lengthy human interaction and paper transportation. Data such as teacher, student, and coach emails as well as responses could then be stored and used if any scheduling conflicts were to arise.
Potential Disruptive Innovations
Adding code to our Google Form would drastically change its efficiency
Using Script Editor to build functions that find overlaps in class times, game times, and on which dates
Automatically send email reminders to teachers when classes are going to be missed
To do this, we would have to break down the form more. Class times would have to be separate from each other.
