Romans 10:14-15

How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”

Ministry Updates

  • We’re hosting the first short term team from Singapore! They’ll be doing a lot of different things in church, the universities and also even with the homeless.
  • Summer holidays for the university students are almost over! We’ll try to hang out with some of them before they head back to school.

  • Just finished OM Japan retreat which our team helped organized. Marianne did a lot of the heavy lifting. Praise God that the retreat went well and that everyone really enjoyed it.
  • After retreat we also went on a week long holiday with Marianne’s family. We had a great time of catching up and just having fun together. Becca in particular could learn a lot of English from her cousins and family.
  • The short-term team from Bartley just arrived. Praise God for his mercies and safe travel.

Prayer Requests

  • Pray for the Totalfit program that Ian has been doing with university students, middle school students and adults.
  • Pray as Ian continues in his role as finance officer. There’s a few things that needs to be changed structurally so pray for wisdom and ability.
  • Pray for Marianne as she not only does ministry but also works with leadership and has to plan for many of the short-term teams that are coming to Sendai.
  • Pray for the new partnership with Operation Blessing Japan, a NPO that works with foster children. We’ll have a totalfit event coming up in October.
  • Pray for revival in Japan! People need the Lord.

Updates

1. Church Matters: Church gatherings are primarily in small groups, with a monthly communion service. Baptisms were held during the holidays for students studying out of town. Positive feedback was received from teacher training and experiential “Alpha” sessions, which will be used further in evangelism by training small group leaders.

2. Bible College: During the July–August enrollment period, 64 applied and 56 were accepted. This fall, 27 courses are offered across 8 classes. The semester began on September 1. Key courses include Hermeneutics, Missiology, and Cult Studies. For safety, full-time students alternate between campus and another location biweekly.

3. Family Matters: Mother is healthy and continues regular Bible reading. The two children are working. Both you and your wife underwent gastrointestinal check-ups at your children's request. Your wife had a colon polyp removed and recovered the same day. You were diagnosed with atrophic gastritis and also had a polyp removed, requiring a three-day hospital stay. You continue to experience discomfort in your right back.

Pray

  • May the Lord be with the church: We pray that the Lord will guide the way ahead and provide a suitable location so that His work may continue to be revived in this city. Some students need financial aid—two full-time students are applying for full scholarships. May the Lord supply all their needs.
  • May God bless the seminary: As the fall term begins, with students spending half of their time on campus and half off-site, we pray for suitable venues to be prepared and for the Lord’s peace to be upon all.
  • Pray for this nation: May the Lord have mercy on this land, transform the current environment, and open doors for the gospel to be preached.
  • Pray for our family: For our work, ministry, daily life, and health—may the Lord grant peace and wellness in all things
