Romans 10:14-15

How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”

KC* (KCN)

Pray

Praise

For KC’s development: will be attending another 2-week Oral Bible Translation (OBT) Consultant training in Aug (Psalms). He like to train and consult for OBT teams. He still consulta for written BT (checking Jeremiah from Sep-Nov)

For KC’s new role as Executive Committee (EC) member : elected for a 2-year term on 1 Aug. Beside monitoring the executive director’s leadership, the EC now has 2 added roles: Strategic and Generative, truly representing and involving the whole group to pivot towards more emphasis in the national BT movement.

- PTL the consultant check on 2Sam for the Tibetan team of 9 pax was very fruitful. Everyone has a new appreciation of how to better translate narratives that will be Faithful-to-the-sense (vs Literal Accuracy); Understandable (vs Clarity where there is too much explication); Natural (vs Appropriate, following the target language rather than the literal syntax and metaphors of the biblical languages); Appealing (vs mere Acceptable) expression of the intentions and emotions of the bible characters.

  • PTL KC will serve as mentor for a 2-year online programme to develop the skills of Translation Advisors before some of them go on to become trainee consultants. This experience will allow him to conduct this valuable training in Chinese for the locals eventually perhaps to develop national translation consultants to serve the remaining needs (150 languages?)
