If you only have 200 dollars, what are you willing to buy?
Bible verse:
Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. (Proverbs 4:23)
Scripture Worship
“Beware of the teachers of the law. They like to walk around in flowing robes and love to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces and have the most important seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at banquets. 47 They devour widows’ houses and for a show make lengthy prayers. These men will be punished most severely.”
Luke 21 : 1-4
As Jesus looked up, he saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. 2 He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins. 3 “Truly I tell you,” he said, “this poor widow has put in more than all the others. 4 All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.”
The comparison between two types of people:
Rich men, prideful, taken advantage of the poor VS a poor widow who offered her everything.
Who do you think offered more and why? Why did the poor widow have the willingness to offer her everything to God?
Experiential Activity 1:
Which is worth more?
From the Heavenly Father’s perspective, which one pleases Him more?
Experiential Activity 2:
Which is heavier?
Jesus’ attitude toward money is different than ours. He sees the money as having a different purpose.
When everyone presents their offerings to the Lord, what Jesus evaluates is the person’s heart, and not how much money they
offered.
