Pride Floats

In the spirit of worldwide Pride Parades:

Pride Floats are 3D models embedded in the world! Think of them like storefronts.

There are 10 slots available for Pride Floats.

Use these to show off your community, or add a creative element to the world to celebrate your LGBTQ+ spirit.

Float submissions are invite-only. They have strict requirements for performance reasons, and we approach communities and creators who have had an exceptional year and deserve the spotlight.

Pride Float Inspiration

The hub will be a night-time vibe, so glowing, light-focused float is encouraged: USE EMISSIVE TEXTURES!

They don’t have to be traditional parade floats, sculptures are also acceptable! If you have a concept that fits into this vibe, talk to us to make sure it will work with the Pride Hub!

Pride Floats

  • Keep it under 8MB total
  • 30,000 polygon limit
  • 4 meshes, same material across both!
  • Texture size limit: 2048 x 2048 sum total
    • You can use 4x1k textures, or a single 2k, or anything that adds up to 2k.
    • Use Trim Sheets to maximize your texture usage
    • Textures will be downscaled for Quest
    • Vertex colors are great!
  • Shaders:
    • Unity Standard, Unlit, or VRChat Standard Lite

Specs

  • Do not exceed the dimensions of your provided reference geometry!
  • Put your files in this directory before making your Unity Package!! _COMMUNITY/FLOAT/{YourName}/
    • All assets should be in the {YourName} folder.
    • Create your Unity Package by right-clicking the root _COMMUNITY directory and selecting “Export Package.”
  • Try to keep it under 8MB. If you're way above, you're going to get a "please try again".
  • 4 draw calls total. That means up to four static meshes.
  • Materials:
    • There will be no lightmapping or baking done to your float! They will be lit with blend probes. This looks best when your textures are not complicated or noisy.
    • You can bake your lighting into your diffuse texture and use Unlit. This can result in spectacular “lighting” with no performance impact.
    • You can use multiple textures, as long as they add up to 2k total.
      • 1x2k texture == 4x1k textures.
  • Three shader choices. Only use one!
    • VRChat/Mobile/Unlit
    • VRChat/Mobile/Standard Lite
    • Unity Standard
      • Only use Standard if you need it (PBR). It costs more than Unlit or Standard Lite.
      • Keep in mind you will need multiple textures for PBR maps.
  • The {YourName} folder should contain all assets for your floats.
  • No colliders!
  • Violating any specs will result in your submission being rejected.
