ART –Mrs. Reinhart
Happy March everyone! In the Art Studio this month, the K-2nd Grade students will be starting their unit on papermaking and learning about the work of Fabiola Jean-Louis. Third Grade is finishing their printmaking unit and Fourth Grade is experimenting with their animation projects, inspired by the work of Laleh Khorramian. Fifth Grade is completing their Gelli prints and mosaics. Their next focus will be on fiber arts, starting with their weaving, patch work, and soft sculptures.
DANCE – Ms. Randolph (Sub for Ms. Spano Esposito)
Ms. Randolph joins the PS 127 Dance class already in motion! Students are finding growth in routine, shaping space and time with their movement, and expressing creative choices in collaboration with partners and small groups. Grades K-5 are preparing their moves for the school dance festival, “Building the Band”. Dynamic Dance Club will also perform their choreography for the school dance festival as well as the District 20 Arts Festival. The “Building the Band” School Dance Festival will be taking place on June 9th, 2026, and there is a rain date of June 12th. Please be on the lookout for the new moves that will be posted on the Dance with Ms. Spano Google Classroom and practice at home! We look forward to performing for family and friends in June and hope to see you there!
PHYSICAL EDUCATION- Mrs. Costabile & Mr. Benson
This month in Physical Education, the students will be focusing on several sport skills (Basketball/Volleyball) The 4th & 5th Grade are completing our NYC Fitness Gram assessments and we will continue to monitor their progress (fitness levels) throughout the remainder of the school year. Grades K-3 are learning many new manipulative skills and team building skills, while playing fun games and activities. *Please encourage your children to be active and eat healthy!
SCIENCE – Mrs. Gold
Happy March!! We are hoping that the weather will warm up soon!! This month is going to be an exciting one in Science Class. In Grade 3 we will begin learning about Weather and Climate. In Grade 4 we are learning about Animal Senses. We will be focusing on the sense of vision and how sight helps animals survive and thrive. In Grade 5 we will be taking on the role of Water Resource Engineers and learning about the parts of the Earth that make up The Earth System. Grade 4 & 5 students will continue to complete the four necessary investigations for the Grade 5 Science State Test.
COMPUTER SCIENCE – Mrs. Bonomolo
Our Spring Computer Science schedule is in full swing! Building on Respect for All Week, students explored digital privacy, online security, and media wellness. They discussed what media balance means, how it varies for each person, and why healthy tech habits matter at home and in school. Upper-grade students reflected on their increasing device use and explored ways to balance screen time with offline activities, as well as the impact of positive role models on responsible digital behavior. Computer Science is ready to shake off the last flakes of winter and reboot for spring!
MUSIC – Ms.. Duncan
This March, Grades K, 1 and 2 will be exploring instruments and musical storytelling through the lens of Saint-Saens’ Carnival of the Animals. Our exploration of each musical movement will connect to dance, the natural world, and expressive elements which can be used to create the effect of an animal in motion. We will also be strengthening note reading and ensemble playing with percussion, pianos and xylophones. Grades 3 and 4 will begin a unit about musical styles from around the world. We will learn elements of the style, famous composers, and play a song from that style on piano, recorder or ukulele. In Club news, both Choruses are preparing for our Spring Arts Festival and Musical Theater Club has begun rehearsals for our June, 2026 production of Matilda, Jr.! Stay tuned for dates!
