Year 1 at Churchill

  • I will be teaching Honors US, a course I taught in MCPS for 10 years.
  • I will be teaching AP US History, a course I taught in MCPS for 6 years. I also served as a reader, table leader, and question leader for College Board’s scoring of the APUSH exam.
  • I will be teaching an elective called SMAC, which is new to me, but I am very excited about it. I think it will be an opportunity to explore topics I am as passionate about as I am about U.S. History.
  • I will also be serving as the coordinator of the Minority Scholars Program and the sponsor for the Model United Nations here at Churchill.

Goals for my Students

I would like for my students-your children-to leave my class with a deeper knowledge and understanding of history. I also hope that that knowledge and understanding will not be enough, and they will want to learn more. I want them to be become critical thinkers, lifelong learners, and socially and emotionally well-adjusted citizens of the world.

You can contact me at Sandy_P_Young@mcpsmd.org if you have any concerns or questions.
