RESEARCH QUESTION

How do changes in training at medical institutions for clinicians increase their awareness of race-based influences on maternal care and improve health outcomes for Black women experiencing preeclampsia?

Historical stereotypes, implicit biases, and ideologies of medical professionals detrimentally affect Black women who are substantially at risk for hypertensive disorders of pregnancy like preeclampsia. Modern training can disrupt these patterns of thinking, leading to better Black maternal health outcomes.

Ensures clinicians acquire the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed for every circumstance they experience in their practice through an outcome-based approach.

When clinicians focus on outcomes, they can implement better strategies and skills to improve maternal health outcomes for Black women with preeclampsia.

Revolutionize maternal care for Black women by fostering structural and cultural competencies through medical training.

Address implicit bias and structural racism in didactics for residency training to create change and racial awareness for better Black maternal health outcomes.
