Honors/Electives Classes

  • Switching into an honors class requires a parent and student request, good test scores, teacher recommendations, high grades, great behavior and administration approval.
  • Changing Elective requests will be honored only the first two weeks of the 1st quarter and at the end of 2nd quarter. Depends on space.
  • iReady testing scores will result in section changes. PLEASE try your hardest. It makes a difference in being placed in support or honors classes

Student Planner/Agenda Book-Required

  • Must bring and use in each class
  • Teachers will check and initial or stamp in each class everyday
  • Replacement costs $10.

Uniform / Personal Appearance� Detentions will be given for uniform violations

  • Shirts tucked in at all times (including recess and lunch time )
  • Shoes/Boots (ankle high only) are to be plain black- No logos, no silver buckles
  • Uniform must be clean, no holes (no ripped clothes/jeans, not even with backing behind holes, No leggings)
  • Hair is not to be extreme, spiky, an unnatural color or noticeable two tone.
  • No Cargo Pants/Short pants/no rolling up pants

  • Skirts or skorts must be no more than 3” above the knee.
  • Socks can be any color.
  • No Pockets on legs
  • No Leggings, joggers, tight pants, stretchy pants
  • Facial and body piercings are not acceptable.
  • Only stud earrings are allowed (No hoop or dangling)
  • No writing is allowed on uniforms or skin.
  • Tattoos must be covered

Following uniform rules avoids detentions.

Clubs/Tutoring/Sports

In order to participate in Clubs/Sports you must be in good academic standing and good behavior.

  • Clubs/Tutoring starts 8/25. 2:55-3:30

  • Sports include: Basketball, Track, Cross Country, Volleyball and Wrestling. Please watch for announcements

  • There will be Coral Care, 8/11 in the afternoon.

Don’t Forget�

  • No forgotten/late items will be allowed to be delivered other than lunches/Water bottles. No backpacks/textbooks/homework/cell phones. Please do not ask your parents to bring them.

  • You are allowed to bring a water bottle to classes Glass is not allowed/coffee/energy drinks are not allowed anywhere/anytime.

  • You will be assigned a locker. Please put a lock on it. You are responsible for its contents. It is best not to allow others to keep things in your locker.
  • Your locker combination must be given to your homeroom teacher in case we need to look in your locker.

FREE DRESS-

Very Important

  • Dress must be appropriate/ nothing revealing or too short, no holes (even with backing), rips, unclean outfits, leggings alone are not acceptable.

  • $2 Theme/Special Color Free dress – Outfits must be at least 50% of that/those colors/theme

  • Students must listen to announcements and be aware of when there is a free dress and when there is not.

  • Detentions are given, if you are out of proper dress.

There are cameras in every classroom, hallways and outside.

They also have sound.

Please be on your best behavior.

For misbehaviors in the classroom-cameras will be reviewed and consequences issued.

PROMOTION POLICIES

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

MIDDLE SCHOOL PROMOTION POLICY

  • Students must pass (D- or higher) all their four core subjects: English, Social Studies, Mathematics, and Science.

  • Should you fail a core class, you must attend summer school.

  • You cannot make up more than one class in summer school. This results in staying back in the same grade (retention)

REPORT CARDS/PROGRESS REPORTS

  • Report cards will be sent home in the mail at the end of each Quarter.
  • Progress Reports will be given to you at the middle of each quarter.
  • Progress reports need to be signed and returned to homeroom teachers.
  • Detentions will be issued, if not turned back in by designated time.

INCENTIVE PROGRAM�

Students receiving honor rewards receive awards in every class. Ask your teachers!!

Grade Point Averages Needed for Incentive Program

3.8 – 4.0 GPA – Academic Excellence Card

Contains: 6-8 Free dress days (TBA) (40 points added to grade level Competition- 80 for 4.0)

4.0 students for two semesters gets taken off campus to the movies, no matter which grade level wins. If their grade level wins, they get a free large soda, large popcorn and treat!!!

3.5-3.79 GPA – Falcon Card (30 points added to Grade level Comp)

Contains: 3 free dress days (TBA)

Pride Card

Contains: 2 free dress days (TBA) (20 Points added to grade level competition)

Grade Level Competition

  • If you are sent out of class for disruption 10-50 points are taken away from your grade!!
  • If you vandalize anything 75 points are deducted from your grade level!!
  • If you earn a detention your grade loses 32 points!
  • If you are a level 2 detention person and earn a detention, 62 points are deducted! Level 3 loses 100 for each detention
  • If you earn a Saturday detention, you cause your grade level to lose 100 points!!!
  • For example a student with 3 detentions and one time being sent out loses 112-136 points for their grade!!!!!

If you win the year (!!!!), you win a week of free,free dress and a free trip off campus to see two movies!!!!!

ACADEMIC PROBATION

  • Students failing any class for the quarter report card will be placed on academic probation
  • Your membership in any club will be suspended and,
  • You cannot participate in sports
    • You will be unable to attend any fun events/dances/fundraisers
    • You will not be allowed to have free dress
  • lost privileges last until you are off probation in the next quarter.

CORAL CELL PHONE POLICY

  • Cell phones are not allowed anywhere in the building at any time (even after school).
  • Cell Phones can be used outside for texting or calling, but not for music, photos or game playing.
  • If your phone is seen being used inappropriately or out, at any time, in the building, it will be confiscated and given to Miss Garlock.

First Offense – Spoken to and given cell phone policy,

Second Offense – Spoken to, parent must come get the phone, write a note, or call and given cell phone policy.

Third Offense – Phone is kept a week, parent must come get the phone, write a note or call (after the week) and given the cell phone policy. Phone dropped off/picked up from Ms. Cortes

Fourth Offense – Phone is kept for the remainder of the year.

When phone is taken for extended time, student must drop off/pick up daily from Ms. Cortes.

CELL PHONES CONTINUED

7th & 8th Grade Classes

Cell Phones need to be placed in pocket charts in each classroom as you walk in the class. Pick them up as you walk out after the class.

Students found with a cell phone during class will receive an automatic detention

The cell phone policy outside the classroom is the same. Phone will be confiscated.

Cell phones will be given to students during any emergency events

LUNCH PERIOD

  • You will be expected to display good manners and courtesy toward others, do not be too loud, there are other classes going on.

  • If the lights are turned off, stop talking and listen for instructions,

  • Cell phones are not allowed in lunchroom/building.

They will be confiscated.

  • Clear your place and dispose of all trash appropriately. Please help when asked.

  • Stay in your seat until dismissed by the duty person,

Electronic equipment (games, ipods, airpods, etc) are not allowed at school especially outside.

Phones are allowed outside only for texting and calling. They cannot be used for games picture taking or music (phone will be taken). Phones will be taken if seen anywhere inside the buildings (restrooms, lockers, hallways, classrooms, etc.)

Shirts must be kept tucked in at all times.

Students should display good sportsmanship at all times.

Bullying, mean teasing, rough play, pushing, name calling will not be tolerated at any time.

We are a team and should support each other.

Outside Recess

PUBLIC AREAS/HALLWAYS

  • Use the halls, lunchroom, or bathrooms only as needed
  • Leave gum at home; chewing gum is not allowed anywhere on campus.
  • At any level, profanity, inappropriate and vulgar language is unacceptable and prohibited, detention offense
  • Any public displays of affection are prohibited with the exception of a friendly and 2-3 second hug

Textbooks and Library Books

  • You are responsible for damages and lost books.
  • You won’t be issued a transcript, your records won’t be released for transfer, and you won’t be promoted to the next grade level if you do not return your textbooks in proper condition.
  • The $50 book deposit will not be returned.

General Rules

  • Smoking/vaping is not allowed on campus. Student will be given long term suspension(10 days) or expelled.
  • Students need to arrive at after school detention on time. Late students will not be allowed in and earn a Saturday detention. No backpacks or books are allowed at detention.
  • No gum chewing on campus.
  • Student should use appropriate language on campus at all times. We are all college bound

������� DISCIPLINE ISSUES� WEAPONS

Guns, pellet guns, knives, smoke bombs, fireworks, mace, tear gas, or other chemicals are also included. A “toy weapon” presented as a real weapon may also be considered the same as a real weapon.

FIGHTING

There is zero tolerance for fighting, intimidation, assault (saying you will hurt someone), and battery (actually touching another person in a hurtful or unwanted manner, including restraining someone).

Cigarettes/Vaping pens/� DRUGS/OR ALCOHOL

To knowingly possess, use, handle, give, store, conceal, offer to sell, buy, cigarettes, vaping materials, drugs and/or alcohol is strictly prohibited anywhere on school grounds, at any school activity, and on any school transportation.

HARASSING/BULLYING OTHERS

Bullying/Harassment is defined as making unwelcome advances, or demonstrating any form of improper physical contact. Included are repeated sexual and/or racial remarks, personal comments, e.g. name calling, teasing, statements regarding physical characteristics, e.g., “fat”, display of material which others may find offensive including jokes and cartoons.

DISRESPECT AND/OR INSUBORDINATION TOWARD TEACHERS OR STAFF

Disrespect (arguing, talking back, etc.) and insubordination (failure to comply with directives), including bad language, either spoken or written, toward any member of the faculty or staff is unacceptable.

For example: If a teacher asks you to move seats, you must move seats. If you think it is unfair. The time to discuss it is after class or with an administrator.

Student will receive an in house from class or out of school suspension/expulsion.

PUBLIC DISPLAYS OF AFFECTION

Public displays are limited to a brief friend like 2 to 3 second hug. No other type of displays of affection are allowed, gestures not allowed are, but not limited to: hand holding, lengthy hugs, arms around each other, kissing, etc.

Miscellaneous

  • Computer misuse or abuse results in detention/suspension
  • Level 1 detention(4 detentions)2:55-3:30
  • Level 2 detention (8 detentions) happens automatically 2:55-3:30 pm and student loses field trip privileges/dance attendance/clubs/school events.

  • Saturday detention is 7:30-11:30 am. If a student is late, they will not be allowed in. Student will them be suspended for 3 days.

  • If a student is not truthful when discussing a discipline issue, his/her consequence doubles.

  • Cannot sign up to discuss detentions.
  • Parents must change the date/or discuss the detention.
  • If a student does sign up and misses their detention, they will be issued a Saturday detention.
