02 • FAMILY CONNECTION
Parent Square
Downloading the app can simplify communication home.
☾
What to Expect
☺
Why It Matters
This is the PRIMARY way we send out school messages and get ahold of parents if communication does not warrant a phone call.
Watch school communication for announcements and information.
If you don’t download the app, you should get a text that comes to your phone instead.
We DO have free BREAKFAST and LUNCH again this year. Please fill out the lunch form tonight so we can keep it!
Settlement Canyon is a Title I school, which means we receive additional federal funding to provide extra resources and support to help students succeed.
I |
Our Title I funding helps us strengthen teaching, support student growth, close learning gaps, and partner with families so every child can succeed. |
Because we are a Schoolwide Title I school, Title I resources can be used to support and improve learning for ALL Settlement Canyon students.
We use district-approved curriculum and supplemental programs to provide strong instruction and additional support based on student needs.
Families are important partners in our Title I program, and we invite you to give input, participate in school decisions, volunteer, attend events, and stay involved.
As a parent, you have the right to request information about the qualifications of the teachers and paraprofessionals who work with your child
We will notify you if your child is taught for four or more consecutive weeks by a teacher who does not meet applicable state certification or licensing requirements.
You can view Settlement Canyon’s academic performance and other school information anytime on the Utah School Report Card website.
Our school website has additional Title I information, including our family engagement policy, school-family compact, school plan, goals, and report card.

Law Changes
The school-year changes families should know.
!
S.B 241 Early Literacy
Utah has strengthened its early-reading requirements to make sure children who are struggling get help early. If a K–3 student scores below the expected reading benchmark, the school will work with the family to create an Individualized Reading Plan that identifies the child’s specific reading needs, the extra support the school will provide, and how progress will be monitored.
