GRIFFIN IS YOUR GUIDE

Press g on the keyboard to toggle Griffin

ON and OFF

Griffin, AKA the Invisible Man, AKA Glasses, will guide you as you start to play, as a tutor and a friend.

Once you get a feel for the game and no longer need his advice, turn him off with a simple keyboard shortcut.

You will see a text pop up on your computer monitor confirming his status.

STEP 1: Choose Your Controller

Point your Popstic at the Controller button on the left hand side and Tap to select.

Developer’s Note:

While the game is great without the Popstic attachment, we recommend using it because it makes the game super fun and unique to play. To order our Popstic prototype accessory, please visit: www.popsticvr.com

Select Popstic f you have the Popstic.

Select Wands if you are using two Vive or Rift controllers.

It remembers your last choice, so you only have to do this once.

NOTE: The game ships in Popstic mode. If you haven't received a Popstic controller yet, use these directions to change the mode to Wands.

STEP 2:

Select your DJ & Song

Use UP/DOWN ARROWS to see choices.

TAP the ARROWS on the LEFT to select a song.

TAP the ARROWS on the RIGHT to select DJ Mavis, Johnny or Drac.

TAP Start Game to go to next step.

Select Very Easy, Super Fun or Extreme .

We recommend everyone play on SUPER FUN.

VERY EASY: For beginners / non-gamers.

SUPER FUN: The ultimate experience with advanced options and powerups.

EXTREME: The hardest level. This is the full embodiment of the game.

Standard Mode or Death Mode

STANDARD = Game never stops, just keep on jamming.

DEATH MODE= If your score drops below threshold, or if you have 3 collisions you can not complete the level.

Explanation of Death Mode

You only get 3 strikes. If you hit your head and stic more than 3 times, you must start over. X are shown on the DJ booth.

You must hit a certain percentage of orbs and ribbons.

If your percentage drops too low the level restarts. Shown as green bar under DJ booth

MENU BUTTONS

Press the Application Vive / B button Oculus mid-game to pause access options: Sound, Restart, Lobby, and Exit Game.

PLAY GAME

The Objective: Score points by matching colors! Hit the colored orbs and trails coming at you with the matching colored ends of your Popstic or wands.

SPIN, MOVE or POINT your Popstic at the center of the orbs.

TWIRL your Popstic left or right to stay on the colored trails.

Avoid obstacles! MOVE your body left and right or DUCK down to get YOUR POPSTIC and HEAD through the giant rotating circles. (Not your whole body, just your head and the Popstic.)

DEFUSE BOMBS

Bombs can be defused by touching the center. Don’t touch the lasers that radiate out!

POWERUPS

White Orb

WHITE orbs slow down time - making it easier to touch clusters of orbs or squeeze through small spaces.

PURPLE orbs let you leave a trail - making it easier to touch clusters of overlapping orbs.

GREEN orbs let you gather power and destroy lasers.

How To Use Green PowerUps

Touch a Green orb.

LEADERBOARDS

Popstic supports both Steam and local leaderboards. The local leaderboard can be customized.

In the game, you can choose to display either one.

To use the local leaderboard hit the C key on the keyboard. Then, enter your name and hit Apply. This will save your scores to a file on your local computer.

This is designed to be done by an operator, not in a headset. The only display is on screen and NOT in the headset.

To erase all your local scores just delete the file [Disk]:\Users\[User]\AppData\LocalLow\DefaultCompany\STAudio\save.dat

Hitting this button will switch the leader board from Local to Steam

Audio Setting

The sound button will call up all the sounds options. Some player will like more or less sound feedback during from game play.

The game is really designed to be played in HARD mode. EASY is for families. NORMAL is for very casual rhythm gamers. HARD shows the full embodiment of the game, with advanced options and powerups. HARD is what you want!

The Glasses character, Griffin, is just for learning. We recommend turning him OFF for videos. Just hit the g key on the keyboard to toggle him on and off.

SUGGESTIONS FOR MR VIDEOS

MixCast and LIV Are Supported

Songs that work really well are ones with lots of powerups! (HARD LEVEL ONLY)

Mavis (Dance Machine)
Johnny (Invincible)
Drac (Cali Girl)
Mavis (Starry Eyes)

These are, of course, just suggestions. The most important part is to have fun!

ROW is a difficult powerup to learn, but it’s very rewarding.

KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS

Press g to Toggle Glasses ON and OFF.

Hold Down the ALT key while you launch to bring up the quality settings dialogue.

Arcade Operators Config file (Popstic or Wands)

Several arcades are wishing to play the game only in Popstic mode or only in Wands mode, instead of allowing the user to make this decision. If you would like to add this feature, here are the steps to set it up:

Create a text file called Config.xml ( there is one already created in the arcade toolkit google drive located HERE)
Place the file inside the folder called “popstic_Data
You need one line of text that says <playstyle> both </playstyle>
Change the word both to be one of the 3 options.

Both = user can choose both controllers (default setting the way the game is now)

Wand = game only uses wands , user is not able to change

Stic = game only uses Stic mode user is not able to change

NOTE: this is case sensitive.
