Information from our School Nurse

Please contact Nurse Jen Vennekotter if you have questions about the following:

​

1. Immunizations that need to be completed before the first day of school.
2. Any medications (prescription and non-prescription) that need to be given at school.
3. If you think your student may need a health care plan.

​

*Please reach out to the nurse if your student has significant health issues (severe allergies, diabetes, asthma, seizures, etc.) in order to develop an individualized health plan for the year.

Maintaining a Healthy School Community

• Provide immunization records to the school office BEFORE the first day of school.�
• Kindergarteners and young 5s are required by the State of Michigan to have vision and hearing screening completed PRIOR to the start of school. �
• The state of Michigan now requires a brief oral health screening. More information is expected from the Washtenaw County Health Department in spring, 2025. Please check back on the district website later this year.

The school nurse is an excellent resource!

Health Concerns and Medications at School

• If your student has health concerns (asthma, severe allergies, diabetes, seizures, ect.) or will need medication at school please contact Nurse Jen before June 16, 2025.�
• This way, we can ensure you have all the proper documentation turned in and a health plan in place for the start of the school year.�
• During online enrollment, please be sure to complete �and document any health issues in the health section.

Transportation

​

Students are eligible for transportation if they live outside the 1.5 mile �walk zone for their school.

• Check your eligibility at the Attendance by Street Directory on A2schools.org
• All Kindergarten students are required to have an adult at the bus stop at the end of the day for student pick-up
• Next year AAPS will continue to register students who are eligible for bus service, eligible families will receive an email over the summer
• AAPS does not provide bus service for In-District Transfer or School of Choice students.
