Writing: Future Trends and Conclusion
By BVHS Library
Future Trends
The Future Trends part of your paper discusses solutions that are new or could come soon in the future to solve your topic’s problem. This should relate to your most recent article.
You should have:
You will need to construct at least two paragraphs about future trends. These will be the last paragraphs before your conclusion.
Future Trends Example
Because the Zika virus has become more pervasive in the United States, it has become important for scientists to continue looking for new solutions. Recently, the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority and the Public Health Emergency Medical Countermeasure Enterprise have approved a fast-track to research blood tests, rapid diagnostics, and vaccines to prevent the Zika virus from spreading (Alic, 2019). The benefit of creating a vaccine for the Zika virus is the preventative measures it would provide for both pregnant women and their unborn children. Scientists should be putting forth further effort to develop a vaccine to help stop the current Zika crisis.
An introductory statement pointing towards the future.
A discussion of a possible solution(s) to your problem or upcoming new technologies w/in-text citation
A recommendation (w/o pronouns) for a solution
Future Trends Note
Your future trends should be at least 2 paragraphs. HERE is an example of what a final future trends section would look like. (NOTE: You do NOT need your visual representation yet! We will discuss that at a further date!)
Conclusion
What is a call to action?
“an exhortation or stimulus to do something in order to achieve an aim or deal with a problem.”
-Google Dictionary
This should relate to the solution you are proposing in your future trends.
Example: In order to prevent microcephaly in infants, scientists need funding to continue research for a Zika virus vaccine.
Conclusion Example
In the United States, the Zika virus is causing microcephaly in many infants after infecting pregnant women. Individuals who contract microcephaly via the Zika virus often require serious lifelong care. It also causes serious developmental delays throughout life for individuals who contract it. If the Zika virus can be prevented before it is contracted, individuals would not suffer from these complications. In order to prevent microcephaly in infants, scientists need funding to continue research for a Zika virus vaccine.
