Rules

• Words that end with more than one consonant: just add the suffix
• Words that end in y: change the y to i then add the suffix (but not when adding ing)
• Words that end with a final e: drop the e then add the suffix
• Words where the short vowel is written with a digraph: just add the suffix
• Words that have a cvc pattern: double the consonant
• Words with a unstressed short vowel sound a single last consonant: just add the suffix
