Dual Enrollment
Sophomores & DE
Sophomores who meet admission criteria may enroll in approved CTAE courses at a participating TCSG school.
Sophomores who earn a 1200+ SAT score or a 26+ ACT score in one sitting may enroll in any approved DE courses at a TCSG, USG, or private institution.
DE Funding
Complete a new DE Funding Application on the GA Futures website each summer or your DE classes will NOT be paid for.
Males must register for Selective Service within 30 days of turning 18 to be eligible for DE funding & HOPE/Zell Miller Scholarships.
After two DE class withdrawals, you are no longer eligible for DE funding.
Withdrawing from a DE class means joining a HHS class that is already in progress.
DE Funding Maximums
Semester
15 hours per semester
30 hours total
Quarter
12 hours per quarter
45 hours total
Insights
Colleges communicate with students; not HHS, not parents
You are responsible for determining if your DE credits transfer to the school you want to attend after HS. Research future colleges/universities and “transfer equivalency.”
Instights cont.
ENGL 1101 & ENGL1102 satisfy our 12th grade Literature requirement.
AP exam scores & college course exemptions
DE funding does NOT cover a class a student previously failed
Each DE program has its own admission requirements
DE is not high school
College classes have strict attendance policies. Students are often dropped for multiple absences.
Make-up tests & assignments are rarely offered/accepted.
You cannot exempt a college final exam.
cont.
Grades earned in DE are part of the student’s permanent academic record for HS & college.
We usually receive letter grades that we convert:
A = 95, B = 85, C = 75, D = 71, F = 65
