  • We wear a Poppy to remember and to honour the lives of our Veterans across Canada.

How to wear a Poppy

  • A Poppy should be worn on the left side of our chest, over the heart.
  • The poppy is a sacred symbol of remembrance of World War 1, specifically, troops who died for our freedom in Flanders Field.

When to Wear a Poppy

  • The Poppy should be worn during the Remembrance period, from the last Friday in October until November 11.
  • The Legion encourages people to wear a Poppy during events, such as a memorial service.

How to Remove a Poppy

  • The Poppy is removed after the Remembrance Day Ceremony or could be removed at the end of the day on November 11.
  • Some choose to remove their poppy on a tomb of a soldier, in honour of respect.
