Lineup Card Management

1

2 of 29

Introduction

  • To ensure proper conduct of the game, we should always have a proper lineup managed on our line up card

  • We need to use lineup procedures throughout the game, from the pregame meeting through to the final out

  • Our lineup card has to be easy to understand

  • If needed, a replacement umpire must be able to pick up where we left off and continue the game

3 of 29

  • At the pregame conference, take the lineup card from the Hornets coach

  • Review what you see and tell the coach

  • “You are batting 9 and have 4 subs”

  • Hand the lineup card back to the coach for a final review

  • Then, take the lineup card from the Cats coach

  • Review what you see and tell the coach

  • “You are batting 11 with 2 Extra Player and have 2 subs”

  • Hand the lineup card back to the coach for a final review

Finish the Pre-Game Conference

  • When you have both lineup cards in hand:
      • Say these are official
      • Ask are there any changes

  • Any changes at this point are substitutions

  • Remind Coaches:

I only need defensive changes for the pitcher and catcher

Lineup Notes

  • Extra Players (EPs) are batting only

  • EPs can go into the field at any time,

This is not a substitution

  • Put the lineup cards away to start the game.
