Part-time with “Executive Consultant” from ABACUS - Evaluating control systems for HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning for cost and energy savings.

Short Term Opportunities

1. Energy Efficiency, Integration, & Centralized Control: Our 9 different BAS/DDC systems need better control and automation of HVAC and lighting systems. Daily reviews of trending, building schedule changes, and alarms/alerts. Building schedules missing nighttime setbacks, holiday closures and incorrect temperature settings costs the City money.
2. Peak Demand Management: Peak demand makes up 20% to 40% of the bills on our large facilities. Set up peak demand alarms and adjust setpoints quick to reduce peak demands. We can also bring in revenue with PJM’s Demand Response.

Long Term Planning

​

1. Ongoing Commissioning, Maintenance & Monitoring: DDC systems provide real-time monitoring and diagnostics. This allows for early detection of issues, which can be addressed before they become major problems. Reduced maintenance costs and increased equipment lifespan contribute to savings.

• Occupancy Sensing: We have opportunities to incorporate occupancy sensors to turn off lights and adjust HVAC settings in unoccupied areas.
