Introduction: Jeanne Bellinger
I am thrilled to be returning to Ocean Shore as its principal. Before attaining my administrative credential, I was a middle school and high school teacher. Over the course of fifteen years (six at Ocean Shore), I taught English, History, and Speech/Debate. All my teaching experience has been in San Francisco and San Mateo Counties, and I’ve taught students at all levels from developmental reading to Advanced Placement English. I have an M.A. in English from Rutgers University and a B.A. in American Government with a minor in Women’s Studies from Georgetown University. I was president of the Pacifica Mothers Club and was active in organizing social events, a lecture series, preschool information nights, and doubling the club's membership. I am passionate about equity in education. In 2008, I helped launch the Pacifica Education Foundation and was its first president. I've also volunteered for all of the PSD parcel tax campaigns as a fundraiser and event coordinator.
I am also a real person!
I live in Pacifica with my husband, Steve. I am also the mother of two teenagers, three cats, a bearded dragon, a grey-banded kingsnake, and an angelfish. Back in the days when I had free time, I enjoyed reading novels, hiking, lifting weights, baking and listening to live music. I still try to engage in most of these activities when I get the chance.

Why Ocean Shore?
.
Our program focuses on experiential learning, project based learning, field trips, environmental stewardship, community service and partnerships with PEF, Pacificans Care, and the Pacific Beach Coalition. We provide a well-rounded, robust education that nurtures the whole child.
Fifth graders and parent chaperones getting the chance to become settlers at Sutter's Fort for two days.
Parent Participation
Parent participation is a big part of our program. The field trips and project based learning that we offer are dependent on parent volunteers for their success. There are many ways to volunteer. Please feel free to reach out to our PTO members. They are always happy to discuss our program. The PTO website is updated weekly. I also write a short letter to parent that I post every Friday along with school news.
Oceans 411
Mosaic project coordinated by Aprile Uhland, one of this year's Elna Flynn Award Winners.
Every May, Kindergarten through 8th grade students participate in an immersive learning experience focused on marine science. Each year there is a new theme, and classroom teachers explore different subtopics. Students move from classroom to classroom, learning and applying their knowledge, through observation,
experimentation, and playing academically enriched games. 7th/8th grade students, parents and local experts collaborate to teach key concepts.
Enrichment Programs
* Music programs funded through our PTO and PEF
* Art programs run by parent volunteers
* An afterschool program offering classes such as: sculpting, dance, Hip-hop, Hula, Robotics, guitar.
