I am super excited to have you in my class this year. I am looking forward to getting to know you! Hopefully this will help you get to know a little bit more about me. We are going to have a fun and special year that will be like no other school year!
My name is Mrs. Hoyem. This is my 25th year of teaching at Alta Vista and my 23rd year as a 2nd grade teacher. I feel so lucky to get to work with my favorite grade!
I grew up locally and now live with my husband and two daughters in Torrance. We love the South Bay!
In my free time, I enjoy going to the beach, watching sports, and relaxing.
After graduating from West Torrance High School,, I attended
the honors program at El Camino Community College., where I
received my AA, I played volleyball at El Camino for the two
years I attended. I then transferred o Chico State, where I
received my BA in Liberal Studies: Elementary Education. I
completed my first semester of student teaching in Chico., Ca.
Upon completion, I participated in a study abroad program
and student taught for a 2nd semester in Ireland.,
I have been teaching at Alta Vista ever since!
*Although I am a Chico State Alumni, I married an University of Oregon Duck. and am a converted Oregon Ducks Fan now.
I live with my husband and two daughters, Brooke (19) and Brynn (17).
Brooke will be attending El Camino College and Brynn will be in 12th grade at Redondo Union High School. We love to travel, play games, and walk at the beach.
