We have looked at different kinds of cacti. We practiced using line. We drew a cactus scene together. Now, you will draw a cactus on your own! You can look at these pictures for ideas. You can draw one cactus, or many! You can add other details! See mine on the next slide.

Creative Response Example

I created a cactus like one of the ones pictured. You can fill up the background as well. Use chalk pastels!

Do you think pastels helped create a good mood for your drawing? What other media could you use, and how would it change the mood and form of your drawing? For example, if you were using watercolor, would it look more wet? Would you be able to show detail, like the spikes on the cactus?
