Student engagement drops significantly beginning in the 5th grade.

Making an intervention during 4th-8th grade is essential to reversing this trend.

96%

Of educators believe Flocabulary increases achievement

In June of 2015, we invited educators who use Flocabulary to answer a series of questions about how their students respond to our videos and activities. These results represent the answers from classroom teachers who use Flocabulary at least once a week.

Anyone who has stood at the front of a classroom knows that learning starts when students are engaged.

Flocabulary supports educators in engaging students.

Impact on Student Achievement

In an independent study, Flocabulary boosted student achievement on state reading tests.

The greatest gains were seen in high-need student populations.

12

The results of a 2008-2009 independently conducted study of The Word Up Project show that middle school students who used the program for 7 months had higher scores on their state's reading tests.

Flocabulary Videos

Area & Perimeter, Grades 2-5

This outer space-themed video teaches the concepts of area and perimeter. Students learn how to calculate the area of rectangles by counting unit squares and the perimeter by adding side lengths, and then by using the formulas length x width and (2 x length) + (2 x width). The song walks students through a real-life example of finding area and perimeter.
