Speaking impact

Transitional school students account for the overall participation in the months of June.

In 2022 average daily participation dropped drastically from June. An average drop of 95.35% for breakfast, an average drop of 84.78% for lunch for July and August.

In 2023, breakfast was not offered in July and August due to poor participation the previous year. Still lunch participation dropped an average 82.31% from June 2023.

July of 2024 we started offering a Grab n Go Option. This has increased participation greatly for July. Breakfast was up 50.45%; Lunch was up 35.87% from June.

Grab n’ Go

Grab n’ Go impact

My goal was to have 200 – 250 children registered for Grab n’ Go.

On the first pick up day we had 235 registered.

Many families take vacation, some simply forget. To increase communication e-mail reminders are sent and Facebook reminders.

The Grab n’ Go program has provided positive feedback from families.

Correspondence Materials for Parents

Parents are emailed a weekly reminder on Fridays with the upcoming menu components, food storage, preparation, and disposal instructions.

Each week included a recommended cooking chart.

The bags also included a pamphlet with the same information.

Thank you

JENNIFER GARNER

SCHOOL NUTRITION COORDINATOR

I am looking forward to next year, and the opportunities to continue summer feeding. Feeding hungry students, is what we do best.
