How to make a caramel macchiato

It’s your first day as a barista.

This is how you make a classic hot caramel macchiato.

(or you trespassed in a Starbucks store due to your dreams of being a minimum wage worker as barista for a multi-billionaire company to pay for rent, food, car, gas, and water while working a second job and being a full-time university student)

STEP 1 : Steam milk

  • Choose a size and the correct cup according to the size
    • Short : extra small
    • Tall : small
    • Grande: medium
    • Venti: large

  • Grab cold milk from the fridge
  • Pour milk in milk frother pitcher to the correct line
    • Order of line is the same order as Drink Size!
    • Lowest to highest
    • Smallest to Biggest

STEP 1 : Steam milk

  • Pour milk in milk frother pitcher to the correct line
  • Hover the milk frother pitcher with the milk underneath the steaming wand
  • Submerge the whole steaming wand in the milk
  • Pull down the milk frother pitcher abit only till you hear a paper tearing sound
  • Hear the paper tearing sound for around 3 seconds
  • Pull up the milk frother pitcher up again submerging the steaming wand in the milk once again

STEP 2 : Queue Espresso shots

  • Wait 3 seconds after the milk has been steaming
  • Choose the right amount of shots for the drink size and click the button according to the shots desired!
    • Short : 1 espresso shot
    • Tall: 1 espresso shot
    • Grande: 2 espresso shot
    • Venti: 2 espresso shot
  • If you would like blonde espresso before, click the top left arrow pointing to the left
  • If you would like decaf espresso before, click the top right arrow point to the right

STEP 3 : Add syrup

  • During that 7 seconds interval, pump the vanilla syrup in!
    • Short : 2 syrup pumps
    • Tall: 3 syrup pumps
    • Grande: 4 syrup pumps
    • Venti: 5 syrup pumps

STEP 4 : Clean steaming wand

  • Milk steaming wand automatically has stopped
  • Remove milk frother pitcher from the steaming wand
  • Wipe wand with a sanitized cloth
  • Push steaming wand away from you
  • Turn on the steaming wand to blow away milk from the inside of the steaming wand

Steaming wand now Clean!

STEP 4 : Finish drink

  • Tap the bottom of the milk frother pitcher on a table and swirl around the steamed milk till there is no bubbles on top of the steamed milk
  • Pour steamed milk in cup
  • Leave around 5 mm - 10 mm of space for the espresso shot
  • Pour espresso shots in the drink
  • Drizzle caramel syrup by creating a two layers of cross hatch lines and then a layer of circle of swirls
