Understanding

the user

  • User research
  • Personas
  • Problem statements
  • User journey maps

User research: summary

I conducted basic research consisting of interviews and created empathy maps to connect with users and their needs. The main group of users identified by the search are adults who do not have time to research, compare and book venues.

This group of users confirmed initial suspicions about venue users, but research also revealed that weather isn't the only factor limiting potential bookings. Time, accessibility and lack of information are the three main weaknesses.

User research: pain points

Budget

Getting a wedding venue within the budget is a stressful task.

Organizing

Organizing everything at a place is a difficult task. Some or the other things gets missed out.

Time

Working adults are too busy to spend significant time searching and touring event venues during the workday.

Lack of Information

Event venue websites typically require individuals to call during the workday to inquire more information about a space.

Starting

the design

11 of 26

Paper wireframes

Taking the time to draft iterations of each screen of the app on paper ensured that each pain point was addressed before starting digital wireframes.

12 of 26

Digital wireframes

I included versions of the Home Screen. After reviewing each one, I decided to combine a few elements to create a home screen that prioritized quick and easy searching

Suggested venue is given on the home page for better access

Serching venue at desired location name

Digital wireframes

I included versions of the Venue Details Screen. I decided to combine a few elements to a venue details screen that prioritized a virtual tour option and clear information architecture.

Virtual 3d tour option is given

Callender option is given to schedule

Low-fidelity prototype

As the initial design phase continued, I made sure to base screen designs on feedback and findings from the user research. The screens showcase the primary user flow, searching and booking a venue.
