The Pope, the leader of the Catholic Church, was just as in kahoots with the power the was offered by the theory of Divine Right. They help ‘give’ the power from God thereby making them an integral part of the theory.
One of the most popular and common idea is The Divine Right of Kings, the idea being that God appointed Kings, Queens and Emperors as His earthly representatives, therefore defying them is defying God's will.
