Fundraising Report

We raised over $700 at the ice skating event!

We hosted parties at school for Fun Run prizes (the rest are on their way)

We are planning more fundraising events to raise money for events!

Programming Report

  • Lunar New Year Assembly will have a Lion Dance from Chau Martial Arts on Jan. 31st and feature our very own BRES Chinese Immersion students!
  • Black History Month Assembly with Renee Emanuel from Griots’ Circle of Maryland on Feb. 19th

  • 167 members so far this school year
    • 32 Individual (including discounted rate)
    • 48 Family
    • 39 Staff
  • Total dues so far: $2,868
  • Updated dues payment to Free State & MCCPTA in March

MCPS Operating Budget Public Hearings (Superintendent Taylor’s $3.6B FY26)

  • “Focus on Fundamentals”
  • Class Sizes - return to 2023-2024 maximums
    • Kindergarten: 25 students
    • First and Second Grades: 26 students
    • Third Grade: 27 students
    • Fourth and Fifth Grades: 29 students
  • +500 paraeducators - Support of the Superintendent’s request
  • Staffing formulas - update to consider both proportion of students and total number of students (BRES has 800 students)

Trivia Question: This teacher attended Julius West and Richard Montgomery and, you won’t be surprised to learn, played basketball with RBBA and tennis at RM. Despite staying close to home for work, he has been to 38 states!
