What is the IT Club’s STEM Career Talks?

  • Launched in January
  • Speaker Series targeting grades 8th to 12th
  • Help guide students pursuing STEM
  • Give students a firsthand look into the possible futures they might find themselves in
  • Zoom/Google Meets format

What do Speakers Talk About?

  • Personal Journey -- Description of your journey through high school/college and what eventually prompted you to pursue your major/field (passions, hobbies, experiences
  • Description of their work or subject with their major in college and in their internships/jobs
  • Cool Projects worked on (to give attendees insight on what they might get to do in that major)
  • Advice to 8th-12th graders (what to do if a middle/high schooler is interested in your field or how to find your passion)

Procedure for each event

  1. Determine Event Lead
    1. In charge of finding/contacting speaker and leading the rest of the group (aka responsible for allocating tasks to each member)

  1. Draft an event proposal
    • Finalize a theme & topic for the talks (i.e. Data Science)
    • State the purpose of the talk, target audience, and proposed date
    • CC admin@the-it-club.org and leaders@the-it-club.org

  • Come up with an event format and title

  • Contact and Confirm Speakers

5. Create Registration Form

  1. Follow typical format with title, speaker picture, date and time of event, description, and registration link
